Alyssa Hadden likes to do it all.

Alyssa started singing as a kid and never looked back, getting involved in choirs and theater productions through high school. And while she proudly names voice as her primary instrument, that is not where she stopped, picking up guitar, drums, percussion, tenor sax, trombone, and “anything else she could get her hands on,” until majoring in French Horn Performance…at which point, alas, the music industry lost her to a transfer to an Econ degree.

Luckily Alyssa maintained her passion for music and dressing up in festive costumes by working with The Colorado Carolers every holiday season for the past 10 years. And one blessed day, she got invited to a Performance High Karaoke Social, and for this former Drum Major, who was looking for a way to incorporate music into her life on a larger scale, it was just in time. (You can blame Alyssa for that pun.)

Alyssa joined one of our Adult Bands to re-sharpen her skills on guitar and some “long-forgotten instruments.” She attends our songwriting circles with PH Faculty Justin Long. She is an OG Flex Pass Holder and frequents a wide variety of classes. And she is launching her original music project, SloCommotion, which “blends lo-fi warmth with mindful reflection, inviting listeners into calm, curious spaces where balance and mystery meet.” She will be debuting two of her songs at our upcoming Live Band Showcase on December 7 at Roots Music Project.

Alyssa believes that we are always learning, that successful discovery requires grace, and that mistakes can be chalked up to “practice.” Her goal for her musical expression is so good, we are going to cut and paste it:

“I want to document the music I'm creating so I can look back on it in years to come. I want to create memorable live experiences that bring people together. I want to keep using my creativity and music to heal and grow as an individual and as a friend.”

Alyssa embodies PH’s Core Value of Curiosity. We embrace possibility. We are open to trying new ideas and approaches. We are fearless in our exploration and growth.

Come see what kind of nonsense I’m dreaming of this week at the SloCommotion set at the Bluebird Bodega Block Party this Saturday, Sept. 26 🎶

📍 1 block west of the Bluebird Theater
🕓 4:45–7PM
🎪 Z Cycle x Cult of Mane

Starting with some 90s + jazzy hits to ease into the evening, then switching over to SloCommotion originals from 6–7PM.

See you there 💫

I’ve created and used AI/ML tools, but I’m a real human artist! I can literally build your cute little no-code workbench to rip off human art, but I have a soul and I don’t want to burn the Earth down anymore. It’s a powerful open-source technology for all other industries, but it’s highway robbery to artists. This world we live in is full of heuristic conflicts that will always be in dissonance. I’m out here doing my best to find the balance.

what I’m really here for is to create memorable in person connections, and experiences.

I’ll be playing a little SloCommotion set at the Bluebird Bodega Block Party this Saturday, Sept. 26 🎶

Come hang, listen, dance around, grab some food, and witness the alleged human behind the music 🤖👋

About 2 years ago I started writing music again after too many years focusing on other priorities. Digging into my experiences has been healing, but difficult. It’s not perfect, but life is a practice. I have more work to do.

Thanks to @performancehigh303 for giving me the time and space to grow. taken in Denver, Colorado by @slocommotion
