Can't really put into words my impressions from Rencontres d'Arles that I visited during the opening week a few days ago.
So many interesting exhibitions, both classical and contemporary, so many works I didn't know, people everywhere on the streets - you could meet all famous photographers in the corner of the streets!
My best exhibition and biggest surprise was Park Chan-Wook (the director of the Oldboy) 's photos in Lee Ufan exhibition from where I bought his excellent book to keep as a souvenir. 😊
Here are some highlights from my visit to the festival.

1,2: Park Chan-Wook (a photo from his exhibition and himself at the Ancient Theater)
3: Vigilance (it has to do with technical works, so I couldn't miss that)
4: Alain Keller (a photo from the Iranian Revolution 1979)
5: Thousands of people at the Ancient Theater for photography
6: Luma Rencontres and Dummy Book Award
7: Penti Samallahti (always magical to see his photos)
8: Olivier Metzger (fantastic photos and sad he died so young)
9: We are not alone (about aliens and UFO's- a clever one)
10: Charlotte Gainsbourg: A very moving exhibition in a completely dark room
11, 12: Ghana! Dreaming Independence (so interesting!)
13: Rinko Kawauchi and Tokuko Ushioda: Opening of the exhibition.
14: Hajime Kimura (my favorite from the OFF festival)
15: Harry Gruyaert (no comments)
16: Ming Smith (loved the Sun Ra's portraits)
17: The Cannibal Image (too conceptional for me, but still can't forget it).
18, 19, 20: photos and messages on the streets of Arles (always a pleasant surprise)

I'm very happy to see this photograph published in the zine by @out.house.gallery, alongside many inspiring images and texts on the theme of urban dreamscapes. 🏞️☕

I've always enjoyed playing with the idea of the "photo within the photo." Here, an idyllic landscape of waterfalls, blue skies, and lush greenery appears inside a traditional 'kafeneio' in the heart of the city.

[I also loved the risograph printing—it perfectly complements the mood of the image].

Making a dummy book out of all the photos I took and collected for the 'Nostos' series was the best and more creative part of the process of dealing photographically with a subject.
While the production of self -published books is more than huge nowadays, I can't find anymore the reason to publish one more-except for there is something really special about it.

So, let's just enjoy the process! 😊

As usually, I like to combine recent photos with old ones coming from family albums or from family footage trying to simulate how and when do we recall our memories.

From the 'Silent Movie Project' released by Dimitris Tasoudis and Stelios Gagaris!

The record was born through live improvisation, created as a soundtrack for Hans Richter’s 1926 avant-garde film, Film Study: the duet made a series of music re-visits (channeling Michel Chion) to the film with a selection served here.
