See you at the Tokyo Art Book Fair next week 11/23-11/26 ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ

Bodies of Water is inspired by the delicate and timeless relationship between freshwater mussels and the health of our waterways. Often referred to as โ€œliving rocksโ€, freshwater mussels play an essential role in quietly filtering our rivers. Today, nearly half of the worldโ€™s freshwater mussels are listed as imperilled. This rapid population decline reflects habitat alteration, pollution and the loss of fish hosts. The book, a small object with ceramic shell-like covers, is held together by intricate butterfly-shaped accordion folds. Within these pages, plankton, algae, and detritus flow against the backdrop of moving waters, around and through the bivalve. Through its nonlinear form, the accordion bookwork illustrates all bodies of water as a connected entity. It emphasizes the impact of water health on the ecology that freshwater mussels depend on to survive.

Iโ€™m honour to participate in @wherewallsmeetsky a group exhibition curated by Rui Pimenta at the ruins of St. Anneโ€™s Anglican Church.

My sculpture, Becoming Hybrids, with contributions by B.I.R.D.S participants, will be joining eleven other artworks in the first public event since the fire destroyed the Church in 2024. It has been incredibly humbling to collect branches with others in the community and build this nest over many days on site. I hope the work contributes a feeling of possibility, mystery and wonder to this sacred space.

The exhibition opens this Saturday, 1-3pm at 270 Gladstone Ave. Toronto. Open Thursday - Sunday 12pm - 8pm from 8/22 until 9/13 with variety of programming on site ! taken in St. Anne's Anglican Church by @sloweditions

Celebrating my mother today ! Photos from last month when we celebrated her 70th birthday together. In the first photo, you can spot the gazebo she received on her 60th birthday. Iโ€™m amazed by the incredible rose garden she grew around it in the last decade. Love you ๐Ÿ’— by @sloweditions

Big shout out to @klassic_kool_shoppe and @sloweditions for collaborating on the art and design for In Another.

The inspiration was based on Zhangziโ€™s parable โ€œButterflyโ€™s dream.โ€ A man became a butterfly in his dream, and when he woke up, he didnโ€™t know whether the butterfly was dreaming of being a man or a man was dreaming of being a butterfly.

I love how the cover artwork evolved from 2D to 3D, and back to 2D again. Alicia and Eunice experimented with an overhead projector to create a hybrid image. From the vantage point of a basement studio, an out of focus butterfly and collaged characters from the dream world and nature blow in from the window, in and out of frame. To me, the artwork captured a moment where imagination and reality blur. by @sloweditions
