Ceramic, glaze, acrylic, & paper
(14x6x8)

This piece has been so special for me to see come to life. My parents use to have this Eurovan when I was small and some of my favorite memories in it were our summer trips, driving down the coast of B.C. My parents up front , brother and me in the back chillin, playing cards, excited to swim and eat mariscos. followed by lots of beautiful fun simple experiences that forever remain with me. i look back at photos during this specific era in my live; a time before family separated , people moved away, & the inevitable change that comes with growing up and I can’t help but just appreciate those moments even more . We had many cars growing up (many of which got repossessed) but this one was my favorite for the obvious reason of it being a sick ass whip . so I’m happy to have my van as a present and opportunity for me and my family to celebrate these memories we hold. :*

*The only photo I could find of our van is of me in it & it’s from a trip to the LA county fair* ;p

Mementos
1. Dear Daniel Plush I took with me everywhere
2. B&w Tobacco promo playing cards we bought in TJ
3. Milk cap found at the beach (maybe San Felipe)
4. Power Ranger topper also found
5. Coin purse with my name
6. Last drawing from stepdad

I will be sharing this piece in
Jugando Play 2 : Character Customization
This Saturday @artdivisionla
curated by @luisabndnher ★

“The pieces in this exhibition inhabit the idea of character customization in video games, where personalized characters diverge through different unique plots. The artist create worlds that speak to their identities, memories, and emotions- using custom characters and narratives to translate their lived experiences”.

1994 Honda Accord with manual transmission and woofed out speakers.
#Streetclassic

Purchased originally by my tio in the 90s—then gifted to my mom—this car really served like a second home. I think it’s part of the reason why it’s taken me so long to share this piece. I felt like I was reliving all the sectors of my adolescence making this, sculpting each time period of our lives into the clay. Emotional but necessary.
It was my mom’s main bb until its demise in 2022 and I’m just glad I got one last pic of her with it. (Last slide)

My Honda will be on view @montevistaprojects
As part of @abars “Adelinos Auto Clinic” every weekend till July 5th 1-5pm.

Alien car animation featuring ceramic sculptures by @slowwworld and friends!

The car is modeled after the car from Alex’s childhood. The alien child listens to music on an iPod while their mom drives around and does donuts while friends dance in the streets!

Made by 3d scanning Alex’s sculptures and friends in t-poses, animated in UE.

These scans were captured from various locations around Los Angeles
