Scope Creep is now open, and documentation is online. The gallery is open Thursday - Saturday 11am - 5pm, and the show runs until November 14.

Accompanying the show is a commissioned text by artist and writer Jesse Howarth, which can be read in full on our website.

"They tell her it is the sandwich, not her complaint about payment discrepancies, that is why she’s no longer permitted to enter the building. She is to leave the premises immediately and she is not to return tomorrow. She is no longer required to spray and wipe down the desks, desks made of black melamine-coated MDF, a stubborn material which shows every touch or smear. She is no longer to work quickly as she has done every morning for the last two years, to buff away grease marks from fingers and elbows on the employees' desks. Now somebody else will be paid the new living wage (the wage she formally complained about not receiving) to repeat these tasks daily. Somebody else will run a duster over the computer monitors that are somehow always dusty, and polish the door handles. It will be somebody else’s job to scrub the sink in the communal kitchen until the skin on their knuckles dries and splits."

We’re thrilled to be presenting this work by Mac Collins as our Annual Artwork Edition available exclusively for Friends of Slugtown on Patreon.

✨Visit the link in bio to support ✨

Join today from as little as £3/month to support the gallery, and to get your hands on beautiful artworks.

In 2025 Collins presented ‘Miscue’, a solo exhibition at Slugtown, that transformed the gallery into an immersive abstraction of a traditional pub. Initially informed by The Limekiln, a Jamaican-run pub in Nottingham, Collins is interested in the point where cultures collide and merge, and the camaraderie and conflict that can occur in civic spaces.

Following this, Collins has created ‘Untitled‘– a limited edition sand-cast aluminium chalk and ubiquitous staple of the traditional pub.

Slugtown is delighted to announce an upcoming gallery exchange with Pipeline, London.

This July, Slugtown will present Rachel Adams and Hilda Kortei in a two-person exhibition in London, whilst Pipeline will showcase Sheffield-based Artist Conor Rogers in Newcastle upon Tyne. The gallery swap seeks to develop a collegiate spirit between the two arts ecologies, and foster a more nationally inclusive art community.

Big thanks to @amldawson @mgerlis and @markhayeswestall for the features in the @artnewspaper @financialtimes @worldoffad 🔗 Links in bio

Slugtown is pleased to present ‘Scope Creep’, a four-person exhibition bringing together painting, sculpture, and installation by Izzie Beirne, C Mae Bloom, Jamie Hammill, and Miranda Webster.

Opening: Thursday 8 October, 6 - 8pm
9 October – 14 November 2026

The exhibition will consider the material and psychological residue left by accumulation: paint layered and excavated, found objects gathered and reassembled, and marks repeated until an image resolves. Ideas of accrual, the passage of time held within an object, and the point at which small, overlooked parts become whole are concerns carried by the artists in the show.

Paper Theatre wrapped up last week with a closing party at the gallery - thank you to everyone who joined us!

Over the summer, children took part in workshops all about print, paper and bookbinding. Artworks made during the sessions went on display, gradually transforming the gallery into a vibrant celebration of all things print.

Thanks to all the kids and to everyone who visited and supported the gallery throughout the project.

Huge thanks to George, Oliver and Erika from @overlaypress for curating such a brilliant programme.

📚 Visit our website via the link in bio to see how it all came together, and to learn more about Overlay Press, the workshops, and Paper Theatre.

Paper Theatre was supported by Arts Council England, GF Smith and Malings Foundation.

Prepping for tomorrow’s Closing Party, and showcasing the works created in some recent workshops, Giant Jacob’s Ladders and Shieldfield Tapestry!

It’s been a pleasure hosting Overlay Press. The workshops - all but a couple sold out - have been a lot of fun, hugely ambitious, and taught a lot of new skills along the way.

All are welcome for the Closing Party, where there’ll be some drinks, some pizzas, all the work made during the project, and opportunity to get your hands on some books, prints and more from the store.

New lithographs from Oliver Hoffmeister, and monotypes from Miriam Hancill are live on our store! Link in bio.

Hoffmeister draws influence from the plethora of visual stimuli that we interact with both passively and actively everyday, he allows his subconscious to derive images without a system of hierarchy.

Hancill’s practice teases out the generative sensations of print making through material-led inquiry. Her Powsels series of monotypes are made by taking CMYK-layered impressions from scrim fabric, a process which produces unpredictable and unique moiré interference patterns in the surface of the prints due to the misalignment of the scrim’s printed weave.
