Gallery text: Slugtown is pleased to present Scope Creep, a four-person exhibition bringing together painting, sculpture, and installation by Izzie Beirne, C Mae Bloom, Jamie Hamill, and Miranda Webster.

The exhibition will consider the material and psychological residue left by accumulation: paint layered and excavated, found objects gathered and reassembled, and marks repeated until an image resolves. Ideas of accrual, the passage of time held within an object, and the point at which small, overlooked parts become whole are concerns carried by the artists in the show.

Drawing from film

Unique and relaxed drawing session, where you'll create your own custom sketchbook, and make drawings from a classic film Faust 1926.

Led by Oliver Hoffmeister from Overlay Press, this session will begin with everyone making their own custom sketchbook using materials provided.

Once everyone's sketchbook is made we will play a classic black and white film, stopping the film when someone raises their hand, at which point the group will draw the frames from the film in quick-turnaround drawings.

All abilities welcome, from absolute beginner to full time pro, all are welcome.

🎨 Materials

All sketchbook materials, and drawing materials will be provided. If you would like to bring your own materials along as well, then you are more than welcome to.

£25.00 per person

6.30pm - 8.30pm

Hello! I’ve made some riso prints with @overlaypress to accompany the walls of @slugtown_ during their free summer workshops for kids over the summer 🐌🌞

From Slugtown -

“Slugtown is pleased to announce ‘Paper Theatre’, a series of free children’s workshops and exhibition all about print, paper and book binding. Curated by Overlay Press, a print studio and publisher based in Newcastle Upon Tyne.”

I just think it’s so cool that Newcastle has something like this, ran by the loveliest people.

The prints are available via the Slugtown online store if you’d like one. 100% of the proceeds made go back into Overlay Press and SlugClub so your money is going somewhere great 💖

All round good!!

Dolphi-Goddess Modular Breathing Helmet.

This helmet is my favourite wearable object me and @samcarvosso @ossomas_studio have made so far I’m in love with her.

I wore her in the water and the sensory experience was beautiful, all I could hear was the ocean up close and my breath, no vision, just sound and my body in the water. When I wear her I become dolphin.

The helmet comes apart into three modular sections. The dolphin’s mouth detaches from the main shell, revealing an internal breathing structure that channels both air and water through the piece. The transparent resin skull cap allows the black liquid inside to remain visible, while the breathing chamber also functions as a dolphin whistle when blown into / worn with tubes and water.

Materials - 3D printed PLA, 3D printed resin, DuoTone car paint, G.L.O.S.S., silicone tubing, black liquid, pumps, breath. Dimensions 29 × 31 x 33cm.

On show at @slugtown_ for one more week until 05.07 WET GODDESS: Recollections of a Dolphin Lover.

Thank you @samcarvosso for being incredible and making these ideas and designs come to life. And ty @slugtown_ for believing in WET GODDESS.
