We invite you to celebrate six punk-chic programs of vibe-shifting, aura-casting Small File ecomedia over two days. These alluring, lovingly curated programs stretch the boundaries of cinema across hitherto unvisited cosmologies. Small files are media artโ€™s sustainable avant-garde! SERIES 1 ยท Oct 17 ยท 7PM ยท 2.5+ hours of tiny jewels from around the globe. Catch a run of increasingly dramatic low-res insubordinations, then fall into twin entangled programs on the simultaneous rationality and irrationality of quantity itself. Celebratory nightcap in the lobby to follow. SERIES 2 ยท Oct 18 ยท 1PM ยท Do birds have petty thoughts? Do rocks tire of meditating? Then, slip into a room that holds almost anything to hide out or hang out. SERIES 3 ยท Oct 18 ยท 4PM ยท Two final programs finding joy in uncertainty: encounter the void through bodies, liquid humours, and analogue backroom dreamsโ€“then, surpass the limits of life, reborn through degrading pixels. ONLINE FESTIVAL Stream online on Small File TV from anywhere in the world in glorious lo-res October 31 through November 7. Stay tuned for more info. PARTNERS The Hmm, CONNECT (Trinity College Dublin), and The Cinematheque. We're grateful to the Canada Council for the Arts, BC Arts Council, City of Vancouver Arts and Culture, and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. โฃ โ€” TOO SMALL TO FAIL! #SmallFile #SmallFileMediaFestival #TheCinematheque #ecomedia #compression #ExperimentalFilm #VideoArt #punk #ClimateAction #art #VancouverFilm ๐Ÿ“ท: Still from โ€œAndromeda Interlacedโ€ by Jay Villalobos, USA, 2026. 10 min, 13.4 MB.
