I haven’t introduced myself IN YEARS, so I think it’s time! My name is Kara, and I’ve been sewing for 13 years. Sewing found me when I was deep in the newborn trenches, when every identify I had ever formed had been broken down by becoming a mother, and in those early days, I had no idea who I was. But in the spare minutes I had during nap times, and in between late night feedings, I would run to my sewing machine and teach myself how to sew. It freed my soul, it brought me back to myself, and it made me fall in love with being an artist again.

Shortly after I started making baby clothes, and then I started my baby clothes business. I didn’t really know how to go to the fabric store yet, so I would thrift large dresses and cut them up to make little baby outfits (so funny how upcycling found me in those early days!)

Fast forward to 2020, where I decided I was good enough to start making clothes for adults, and I took the leap. Small Museum was born and it changed my life, and as a single mother, it saved my life. Running a business is like always living on the edge, but I have good balance and I love the excitement :)

I have failed more times than I can count, but I never quit, and I always learned from those failures, and it’s made me who I am today. Thank you all for being here and supporting me and my work, I am eternally grateful for your support. 💕💕 by @smallmuseum_

Okay LOVING this new dress I made! How good did I do for a first time first draft of this pattern!? I love when I just decide to make something and it fits wonderfully first try! I used my new fabric, Cherry + Chocolate Linen Cotton Blend, and it’s absolutely perfect for this dress. This dress features a collar with a collar stand, cuffs that tie with a bow, and a little ruffle skirt! (YES I KNOW ITS SHORT THATS HOW I LIKE IT) lolol but on the next draft I’ll make it a little longer 🤣 let me know if you wanna see this as a pattern, or if you wanna see something else! by @smallmuseum_
