A little fact about me , I can’t have kids, so imagine my surprise in February 2007 when I found out I was pregnant. The day of my ultrasound to find out the gender I found out so much more. Her little heart that was beating so strongly two weeks prior, stopped, forever.

What was supposed to be the absolute greatest day of my life turned into the absolute worst day I will ever survive. I wouldn’t wish the feeling of seeing no heartbeat on even on my worst enemy. I can’t even begin to describe the feelings, the guilt the infinite sadness living in a world of what if - 19 years of what if. But it’s the grief … the soul crushing type that never passes. I grieve for Riley the life she never got a chance to live, the world she never got a chance to see and all the love, she never got to feel aside from the the 23 weeks she existed.

She did give me the one thing I will never forget. She twisted and tumbled and kicked, it was like nothing I had ever experienced before and it’s something I’ll never forget

This picture here is one of the little things about life I will never take for granted … the post bath toy drying out process lol … and he used his dads shampoo so his hair smells like old spice lol

At an early age I promised myself I would never date someone w children (as I found out early on chances of getting pregnant were slim and staying pregnant were just about none) I didn’t wanna deal with the drama that I saw friends deal with, I didn’t wanna come into a family that was already made and try to deal with and process all the feelings that come with that

But then one day this blue eyed smart mouthed amazing man wandered into my life, and I broke my one life rule - and you know what I wouldn’t trade it for anything … the good days, the bad days and all the days in between and the little things. He’s given me one thing I never knew I needed. He shared his life with me and provided me the privilege of watching two children grow into amazing humans. No matter what anybody thinks or says, I will always be in their corner cheering them on loudly or quietly whatever keeps the peace 🩷
