Join poets & educators Alison Lubar (@theoriginalalison) and Taylor Alyson Lewis (@blackboipoet) for a 2 hr. generative workshop that breaks the limitations of the teacher/student and poem/reader binaries. We’ll consider how poems are teachers, as well as the way that poets are both teachers and students. Finally, we’ll discover how poetry can give us answers to our silliest and deepest questions. Participants of all experiences are welcome, and can expect to walk away with some new work that they’ve created both on their own and in a community setting. Come see what’s possible when we trust our own inner teachers and become students of each other! Sponsored by @bluestoopphl 💙💙💙

Feeling stiff, sluggish, or slouched from long hours at your desk? Join us for a rejuvenating session where yoga and journaling are thoughtfully intertwined to help counter the effects of sitting and screen fatigue. We'll move through gentle stretches, postural alignment, and breathwork to release tension and restore energy—pausing throughout to reflect and write, deepening the connection between body and mind.

No prior experience is needed—just wear something comfortable, bring your mat and journal, and give yourself the gift of mindful movement and introspection.

As an animator, Tima brings a unique perspective to yoga, often incorporating creative visualizations and storytelling techniques to enhance the experience of movement and self-awareness. Whether it’s through dynamic visuals or thoughtful instruction, they believe in the power of both the body and the mind to tell a story, creating a balanced and harmonious practice. Their classes are a fusion of physical movement, creative expression, and mindfulness, designed to empower students to find joy, peace, and connection in both their bodies and their creative lives. by @smallworksphilly

Yes, someone eats a painting in Scott’s new book. No, we won’t be gnawing art off the gallery walls. Well, maybe just a nibble. As a treat.

Reminder: This Sunday CDSOB is delighted to present a horror poetics showcase: four authors at Small Works Gallery. Come out to celebrate the release of Then Then Then, a new novel by Scott Daughtridge DeMer, who will be in town from Atlanta. Scott will be joined by Philadelphia writers Jennifer Nelson, author most recently of On the Way to the Paintings of Forest Robberies (Fence Books, 2025); Chris McCreary, author most recently of awry (White Stag, 2024); and Ebs Sanders, author most recently of Intimacies that did not destroy us (Bottlecap Press, 2022).
