I showed up tonight ready to hear from our community. Unfortunately, the City Council meeting was canceled at the last minute because we didn’t have enough Councilmembers to meet quorum.

If you planned to speak tonight, don’t let your voice go unheard. Email the entire City Council and put your comments on the record. And please show up on October 20 and make sure we hear from you then.

Residents make time to show up. Councilmembers should too.

I’ll see you on October 20.

ICE OUT OF THE 805. ✊🏽

Our communities deserve to live without fear. Our families deserve to feel safe, supported, and protected. And our neighbors deserve dignity, no matter where they come from.

We are stronger when we stand together. We are louder when we organize. And we will continue to show up for our immigrant families.

ICE Out Of 805
—
Hatred, prejudice, and racism may strike fear in others.
But we, as a community, stand strong and will NOT tolerate it.

Today, ICE detained a member of our community at Allan Hancock College. Our schools should be places of learning, not fear or anxiety. I continue to call on my colleagues on the City Council to stop standing on the sidelines and take action. We need ICE out of the 805.

Proud to bring $1.2 million in state funding home to Santa Maria! This investment will help make Simas Park more accessible and improve sidewalks, streets, and bike infrastructure that Santa Maria families rely on. Thank you to Senate President pro Tempore @moniquelimonca for her leadership and partnership in delivering these resources for our community.

I’m glad to see Simas Park recognized as a priority for CDBG capital funding.

At our last City Council meeting, I raised questions about the proposal to release CDBG funding and asked for clarification on the projects staff had identified as priorities. That discussion helped ensure that Simas Park’s ADA improvements remained part of the conversation.

I’ll continue asking questions, digging into the details, and advocating for investments that improve accessibility and quality of life for Santa Maria residents.
