Six years ago I stepped into the UK BBQ scene. I had no idea that buying a smoker during lockdown would completely change my life. Since then I’ve shared 100+ free recipes, created over 1,000 pieces of content, surpassed ONE MILLION website views, welcomed 600,000+ active users to Smoke & Sear, and built social profiles, groups and communities with 70,000+ members and followers. But the numbers aren’t what I’m most proud of. It’s the friendships, the community, and seeing more and more people across the UK discovering outdoor cooking. A massive thank you to every brand that’s believed in me over the last six years. Whether you’ve trusted me with your products, invited me to events, or somehow flown me to Nashville . . . (still can’t quite believe that one! ❤️) Then there’s @fourge.bbq . . . Starting a business with three great lads I met through the BBQ community is genuinely a dream come true. It’s still early days, but seeing so many FOUNDERS backing us, our rubs selling so well, and people proudly wearing FOURGE merch honestly means more than I can put into words. Pellets, fuel and plenty more are just around the corner, and I can’t wait to cook for so many of you at @meatupfestival in just a few weeks. Thank you to everyone who’s followed my journey over the last six years. I’m just one bloke trying to do his small part to help push UK BBQ forward. Made a quiz taking the p*ss out of BBQ people. Took it myself. Got “THE CONTENT CREATOR”. “Lovely food. Shame it’s f**king cold.” Fair. 😂 I dropped the link in the BBQ WhatsApp and it’s gone a bit mad, so I may as well let the rest of you have a go . . . Black gloves. Snapped sausages. Well… it’s been a while! ✈️🔥 I haven’t seen a Typhoon Display since 23rd June, so when an alert popped up on my phone this morning telling me a display slot had been reserved at RAF Coningsby… it pretty much went without saying where I was going to be. 😂 iPhone in hand, stood by the fence and waiting for Flight Lieutenant @planetom91 (DRAGON01) and the @raf_typhoondisplayteam to do their thing. And what a backdrop for it. The sky over Coningsby was SO dark and moody, but if anything that just made the Typhoon look even more dramatic as Tom threw it around the Lincolnshire sky. 🔥 Just the highlights from me today rather than the full display because, well… apparently three months is long enough for me to completely forget how to keep a Typhoon in frame. 😂 Still, bloody good to see it back over Coningsby. Huge credit as always to Tom and the entire Typhoon Display Team behind these displays. What an aircraft. What a noise. AD | 6.5kg of meat. One seriously loaded grill. Three hungry kids . . . and one dog patiently waiting for her opportunity. This is the @campbellsmeatonline Friends & Family BBQ Bundle, packed with Chinese-glazed ribs and pork steaks, pepper steaks, steak burgers, pork and chorizo burgers, premium pork sausages and chicken thighs. I’m always slightly sceptical of pre-marinated meat, but the flavours were genuinely really good. Nothing overpowering, and you could still properly enjoy the meat. The kids particularly loved the sausages and burgers . . . which is always the real test in this house! There was far too much for the four of us to finish in one sitting, but leftovers are king around here. A proper friends and family feast, with 6.5kg of BBQ favourites and a 26% saving off the RRP. I might have been a bit quiet on here lately . . . but behind the scenes I’m still cooking, doing a bit of brand work and, apparently, building random shit. I’ve always tried to support UK BBQ wherever I can . . . not every idea works, plenty have been launched, gone nowhere and quietly chucked in the bin 😂 . . . but we do what we do, eh. There’s too much focus sometimes on growing your page . . . your followers . . . your name . . . I’d rather try and help push UK BBQ as a whole. So . . . my latest geeky little idea is the UK BBQ Creator Circle 🔥 One place to find UK BBQ creators, follow them across their socials, support each other and give your 10 Sparks to the people you rate. And yeah . . . there’s technically a bit of follow-for-follow in there . . . just without the “FOLLOWED BRO, FOLLOW BACK” bollocks. The Sparks also decide who ends up Top of the Pit . . . so after years of me pissing people off with my Top 100 lists, you lot finally get a say. Good people. Proper BBQ. Thought I’d try something new . . . useful? 🔥 I spend far too much time reading about BBQ anyway, so I thought I might as well turn it into something genuinely handy 😂 Here’s what has been happening around UK BBQ this week. 🍔 BRITAIN’S BEST BURGER IS FROM TESCO . . . APPARENTLY Tesco Finest Cherrywood Smoked Aberdeen Angus Burgers won Britain’s Best Burger at the 2026 Meat Industry Awards. Co-op took Best Sausage, Waitrose won Best Pork Product with its peach BBQ glazed pork belly, and Campbells Prime Meat won Best Lamb Product with Scotch lamb lollipops. Have you tried any of them? 🔥 OXFORD TIGHTENS ITS PUBLIC BBQ RULES Oxford City Council has strengthened restrictions on BBQs and fires in designated public spaces. A £100 fixed penalty can be issued, with prosecution potentially leading to a fine of up to £1,000. Before anyone starts hiding the kettle BBQ . . . this is NOT a ban on cooking in your own garden. 🍖 RIBS, BRISKET AND LIVE FIRE Rack City Ribs has started a residency at Kitchen E20 in Stratford. InterStellar BBQ and La Barbecue are appearing at The Ned during September and through 4 October. A BBQ tray for two is roughly £150, with brisket another £50. I mean . . . it had better be very good brisket. WYLD, a new live-fire restaurant, is due to open at Freight Island in Newcastle on 25 September. 📅 HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND Meatopia London, Bristol Wing Fest, Penzance Food Festival and FÝR Fest are all happening now. Booked it the night before. Turned out to be one of the best little trips we’ve had. @pinecones_cc is just over an hour from home, so with the @tentbox already on the car, we just went. The Sandringham Royal Estate is only about a 30-minute walk from the site and the play park is HUGE. Because we walked over, no parking charge either. A few hours out for free and the kids loved it . . . can’t argue with that 😂 Then back to site for fish and chips, a few drinks in the bar, frisbee, board games and movies in the TentBox. This is exactly why I keep it on the car. Last-minute adventures are what it’s all about. ❤️ taken in Pinecones Caravan and Camping by @smoke.sear
