A little sunshine and absolutely nowhere to be. 🌞

The Nenzima makes a pretty lovely picnic companion. After all, getting comfy and feeling good go hand in hand. 🤎

THE WORLD IS WATCHING. WE’RE BUILDING. 🇿🇦🌍

FAME Week Africa brought together some seriously good people across film, fashion, design and the wider creative industries, with one conversation coming up again and again:

How do we take African creativity further into the world?

Not simply as inspiration, but as work to be commissioned, funded, worn, filmed, bought and properly valued.

A conversation we are, unsurprisingly, very interested in. 😉

So it was particularly good to see our brands moving through the week on some brilliant humans, including Bohang Moeko and Kim Jayde, while our own Zydia Botes joined the conversation on stage too.

South African talent. South African design. Very good rooms to be in.

And a small reminder that supporting local creative work is not abstract. Wear it. Buy it. Share it. Talk about it. Put it in the film. Tell a friend.

More of this, please. 🧶🇿🇦 by @smtnggoodstudio

GOOD IDEAS TRAVEL. ✈️

Carla, our co-owner, is based in Portugal but very much part of the daily rhythm of Something Good Studio.

She is rarely without a sketchbook, usually ten ideas ahead, and constantly sending through references, drawings, colour thoughts and new directions. Design machine queen, basically. 👑

Between Johannesburg and Porto, ideas move fast. They get shared, challenged, developed and eventually turned into something real.

We thought we’d show you a little more of that process.

First stop: coffee with Carla, and whatever she’s cooking up next. ☕️✨ by @smtnggoodstudio

When blankets become art. 🖤

We’re seeing more and more of our artist-designed blankets finding their way onto walls, and we absolutely love it! 🫶

Pictured here is Sketch22, a sold out edition by artist Maja Maljević. A king-size knitted blanket transformed into a striking piece of wall art.

Beyond the visual impact, textile art brings warmth, texture and softness into a space, with the added benefit of helping absorb sound.

Beautiful, functional, and a wonderful way to live with art. ✨

Beautifully framed and installed by @candicebermangallery in a private residence.

FROM THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE PATTERNS. 🧡

We sat down with Young Designer Competition alumni Boikanyo, Madison and Lunathi to talk about the bits that don’t always make it into the final pattern: big moments, finding your voice, trusting your process, humour, and what happens after you press submit.

A few snippets from the conversation, worth a swipe. 🧶

And while we have you here, two little PSAs:

Some of their YDC pieces are still available to shop, but not for much longer. 👀

And if you’ve been sitting on a pattern of your own, entries close 18 October 2026. Full brief via the link in bio. 🔗

Maybe next time, we’re sitting around the table talking about yours. 🧡 by @smtnggoodstudio

Come for a browse. Stay for the details.

At Something Good Studio, there’s always something interesting, thoughtful, or beautifully made waiting to be discovered. by @smtnggoodstudio

For those who love to play. 👾

Madison Gordan’s YDC pattern became Crazy Creatures: a touch abstract, lots of character, cosy colours and a tad bit of mischief.

A reminder that personality is non-negotiable.

Come meet the designer, join the fun at our YDC alumni event tomorrow, 3 Oct at our @nineyardsjhb store 📆 by @smtnggoodstudio

One voice. Two ways of seeing.

From safari scapes to city streets, YDC alum Boikanyo Makhafola’s Grace of Giants midi blanket brings the natural world a little closer 🐘

In the Rebone Reversible Throw, his gaze turns inward towards the goodness we can find in each other.

His two winning patterns then become an invitation to be bold and distinctive in all the pockets of our lives. Where being unusual is exactly how we find the people and places that feel most aligned.

Round and round it goes.➰

For YDC alumna Jessica Scott , the Young Designer Competition took her somewhere unexpected: into a Full Circle moment.

A true affirmation of her talent at a time when she felt misplaced and uncertain. Her circle stepped in and a friend urged her forward, beginning a journey she hadn’t imagined.

Playing with continuity, rich tones and an immersive pattern that draws you in, the hallmarked Full Circle Vest, Trousers and Reversible Throw were created.

This range, something that feels both joyful and considered, is a nod to the people who inspire us, believe in us and remind us that we belong.

Come join our inner circle this Saturday at Nine Yards.🟠 by @smtnggoodstudio
