Yamkela Mafoco, better known as @snappedbycozy_, found photography almost by accident. A borrowed camera in 2024 became the starting point for a practice shaped by fashion, township life, culture and the people around him.

Now based in Johannesburg, Mafoco is building a photography book and working towards his first exhibition while continuing to develop a visual language rooted in how he sees everyday life.

A (VERY) SHORT FILM: BRASIL E ARGENTINA.

Some stories don’t belong to one nation.

They exist in the space between two flags, two anthems, two ways of seeing the game.

For generations, Brazil and Argentina have spoken to one another through football - sometimes with elegance, sometimes with defiance, always with conviction. From Pelé to Diego Maradona, their greatest icons became more than footballers; they became symbols of imagination, identity, and belief.

A (VERY) SHORT FILM is an homage to that conversation. Not to determine who is greater, but to honour the rivalry that has inspired greatness on both sides and gifted the world some of football’s most unforgettable moments.

‘CULTURAL PLASTICITY’

Johannesburg has a way of mixing things that weren’t meant to sit together and somehow making them feel natural. Culture here isn’t fixed, it shifts with how people live, move and express themselves. This piece sits in that space. It draws from the iNguba and the journey into womanhood, but translates it into something that feels current. The Umndrazana Jacket takes the idea of the Isigolwani and reworks it through a streetwear lens. It’s not about holding culture in one place, it’s about showing how it changes and continues to exist in everyday life.
