Elk were re-introduced into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park 25 years ago and they have done quite well. Here’s a beautiful bull that I captured this week in the valley. It’s the rut season and the sound of their bugle is impressive to witness.

This scene started just as quickly as it ended. This bear family was grazing in the fields when they spotted a male bear approach a little too close. The cubs hugged up on mamma quickly. But a few minutes later they were in the clear and relaxed and rested.

Here’s some flying Puffin pictures I took while I was in Alaska. They aren’t easy to photograph as they can fly 55mph. I wasn’t able to get the shot I wanted with fish in the mouth but the last picture in this set has one carrying some bedding/grass.

Maybe this coastal brown (grizzly) cub was trying to hide while scratching, or just posing for us. Either way it was a great day as we saw 3 different momma bears with 2 cubs each on this day.

This springer brown bear cub (grizzly) was fun to watch while I was in Alaska last week. I saw 3 different sets of cubs on my trip. I’m still going through my bear pictures and still not finished sorting through my eagle trip pics in March.
