This year felt stagnant to me. I didn’t move any goal bars or accomplish anything big… to be honest I felt like I was putting out fire after fire. But that’s ok! We’re all healthy, we’ve had some fun times, and we have plenty of people to love and be loved by. Sometimes survival is the goal, right? And maybe I’m at the parenting stage where you just get to relax and marvel at all of the interesting and challenging things your kids are going through.

Harrison has shown a ton of emotional maturity this year. He has a solid group of nerd guy friends and they love to laugh without making each other feel like shit. He also LOVES talking to/gossiping with girls platonically and it reminds me so much of my brother 🥲. He’s a super fast swimmer, straight A student, and his Spanish is amazing (he’s saved us on this trip to El Salvador a few times so far haha).

Viola, our funny asshole, has provided us with most of our comedic relief this year. Our list of absolutely insane things that come out of her mouth unfiltered has grown exponentially this past year. Her creativity is amazing, but she does love all of the things that other girls her age loves too (k pop demon hunters, axolotls, cats). She is getting SO GOOD at the piano- she recently learned my favorite xmas song heard in this post (thanks @rondohatton). She’s confident and sweet and is also loving learning Spanish.
