What they don’t tell you about rebuilding, is that it will cost you something.

Mine cost me more than I ever expected. Turns out, that was the price of becoming 🖤

The aesthetic version you see on here just has better lighting.

Rebuilding, the era, as the cool kids call it, is not a phase. If it were, it would not have survived what I’ve been through. It is a decision you make before the motivation shows up. A choice that precedes the clarity. A step you take in the dark, trusting there will be new ground where your feet land.

At its best, rebuilding is a leap of faith. Not the kind that waits until conditions are perfect. The kind that moves anyway. Quietly. On a Wednesday. With a grocery list in one hand and a hope I am still learning to hold in the other. This is the becoming.

Rebuilding is the weight I discovered I could carry after the fire had done its worst. Pain. Grief. Betrayal. Shame. And still. Undaunted. Sustained by a grace far greater than my own strength. That is not just resilience. That, I have come to believe, is a deeper purpose quietly pulling me forward into the life I was always meant to walk in.

Rebuilding asked me to step into a version of myself that years of survival had kept just out of reach. And that uncertainty kept me stuck longer than I care to admit. Familiarity, even when broken, often feels safer than the unknown.

And then one day, quietly and without announcement, who I was stopped feeling like home. No dramatic moment. No big revelation. Just a quiet knowing that I could no longer go back.

That is how I knew it was working. Not because the hard days disappeared. But because somewhere along the way, I found a resolve so deep it wouldn’t let me stay down.

So I keep moving. Wholehearted, unhurried, and trusting God with everything I cannot control, which, if I am honest, is most of it.

Rebuilding is not just possible. It is absolutely worth it 🤍

For most of my life, I read the room before I ever read myself, trying to stay acceptable, even to myself.

I adjusted, shifted, became whatever I thought I needed to be in order to feel like I belonged.

Underneath it all was one thing: fear. Fear of not being enough. Of being fully seen and still not known.

For years I felt one thing and showed up as another. Psychologists call this cognitive dissonance. I lived in that gap so long it began to feel like me. But it wasn’t. It was a misunderstanding of my identity.

I’m currently deep in the study of human behaviour and the psychology behind why we think, feel, and believe the way we do, weaving it together with my faith-based worldview. And one thing keeps emerging in both my research and my story: the fear of being seen is rarely just about fear. It often reveals something deeper about our identity that has not yet been understood.

Identity, or our sense of self, is often shaped by every environment, experience and relationship we navigate. But for me, it is something steadier than that. Something authored before I even took my first breath.

Six years ago, everything I thought I knew about my life began to unravel. Forcing me to confront questions I had long carried: Who even am I beneath these layers of myself that no longer fit? Which beliefs are actually mine?

The inner work, for me, was not about discovering someone new. My identity, the real me, was never truly lost. It was buried beneath false beliefs, coping mechanisms, and survival strategies I had picked up along the way.

The work was realignment. Unlearning what was never mine and standing firm in what always was.

The goal was never to spend a lifetime searching. It was to uncover what was always there and finally have the courage to step into it. To become it. Fully. Without apology.

Because who you were created to be has always been enough.

Not me side-eyeing the over the top pre-k grad parents online and then completely losing it at my own kid’s graduation 🫠

My covid baby walked across that stage this week and I am feeling a kaleidoscope of emotions... Five years went by in the blink of an eye 🥺 My heart is not ready for the next five. And somehow, so completely excited for all that he will become.

Just over here holding onto every moment of his becoming. Every single one 🤍

There is a kind of strength you don’t often hear about.

The kind that moves against the current. Quietly. Steadily. Often alone.

It does not announce itself. It does not wait for applause or permission or the moment when everything makes sense. It just moves. Sure and unhurried, even when the path looks nothing like what was expected.

That kind of strength, at its core, is rooted in conviction. A groundedness that does not shift with other people’s opinions or timelines. A sense of identity so settled that it does not need the room to validate it before it walks in.

For me, that grounding comes from my faith. It keeps my eyes on the bigger picture and gives me what I need to keep going even without an audience. It is the thing that holds me when the path gets uncomfortable, when I am misunderstood, and when I am living a life that does not easily fit the mould.

A woman in her thirties, navigating motherhood largely on her own while chasing ambitious academic dreams, healing deeply and building something from the inside out. I learnt very quickly that this means being intentional with my time and energy. What I carry, what I lay down, and what I protect. Things I overlook for the sake of my peace. Weight I carry so my son does not have to. Rooms I walk into feeling nervous and still show up fully.

Not because it is easy. But because I know why I am doing it.

That conviction changed everything for me.

To every woman on an unconventional path, whether it is motherhood, career, faith, identity or all of the above - the current was never meant for everyone. Some of us were built to swim against it.

And if there is one thing I have learnt, it is this: once you find your conviction, hold fast to it. The courage will follow. by @snehasjoseph

The younger version of me who grew up watching New York through screens and daydreams always wanted a Met steps moment 🖤

Proof that some girlhood dreams are worth growing into.

The Met steps, a city I love, and a life I’m rebuilding into something more honest, more aligned, more my own and less of who I thought I had to be.

I’m grateful for the reminder that some prayers are answered quietly, and that joy isn’t always found in arriving, sometimes it’s in realizing you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

I’m learning that becoming isn’t one big transformation. It’s a hundred small decisions to keep growing and keep showing up, bringing all of me this time. Not perfectly, but wholeheartedly. Trusting God with my whole being and letting His timing shape my story in ways I never could.

Somewhere between beginning again and becoming, New York City keeps giving me permission and the audacity to become exactly who I’m meant to be✨

Celebrated my big boy turning the BIG FIVE this week! 5️⃣🎈🎂🥳🩵

A long weekend full of birthday fun - Paw Patrol everything, a trip to Nickelodeon Universe to see the pups in action and more, class celebrations, cake, cuddles, and all the joy.

Happy birthday to the beautiful boy who made me a mother and taught me a love so unconditional. Through his big, wonder-filled eyes, he opened me up to a world more magical, joyful, and full of possibility than I ever knew. He healed parts of me with his hugs, kisses, and endless goofiness, made me fierce and soft all at once, and somehow made me even more ambitious too. He fills my days with belly laughs, sweetness, and perfectly timed wit. Strong-willed, opinionated, and already negotiating like a full-fledged lawyer 😅

Watching him grow is both beautiful and unbelievable - one minute he wants me to hold him tight at bedtime, the next he’s asking for space 🥲 No matter how big he gets, he’ll always be the little bub who expanded my heart at first glance (see last few pics 🥺)

Kai’s birthday requests this year: homemade chocolate cake, a Paw Patrol party, and chapati 🫠 He’s learning Malayalam through music and food (swipe for his sweet little pronunciations), and I love getting to raise this brilliant, hilarious, sweet boy who loves God, people, animals, laughter, a good time, and chocolate just as much as I do ✨

Happy Birthday to the boy who is the whole dang birthday. I love you something fierce, kid 🫶🏽 by @snehasjoseph

One of my favourite days of the year, celebrating my favourite role I’ve ever had - being a mother 💖

Of all the big, wild dreams I’ve had, motherhood stands alone as the greatest blessing, biggest teacher, and the one thing that has healed and formed me emotionally and spiritually in ways I can’t fully explain. It has taught me more about myself and God than almost anything else. I’ve heard motherhood described as a kind of warfare and I understand why. Never underestimate the power of a mother’s prayer - it can cover, protect, rebuke, and move mountains in ways only heaven sees. I am living proof of the prayers of my mother and grandmother.

My dreamboat of a son makes everything even more special. We had a wonderful weekend of our usual traditions, and he spent it making sure “mommy felt his love and mommy felt special” 🥹 while proudly reminding me that he’s the reason I even get to celebrate Mother’s Day 🫠 He kept asking for baby photos and stories, loving how I light up when I talk about him 🥲

Motherhood has been the greatest joy of my life, even if it hasn’t looked the way I once imagined. The beginning of this beautiful journey unfolded alongside a lot of unexpected change, and became the beginning of my journey as a single mother. It’s like God knew my tired, broken heart then needed the unconditional love, deep joy, purpose, and warmth only my son could bring.

It’s taken a kind of strength you can never fully understand from the outside looking in, carrying double the weight with half the support, and still choosing love, softness, and joy every single day. I am convinced God gives single mothers a kind of unique, otherworldly grace that quietly sustains, strengthens, and carries you beyond what you ever thought possible - a miracle in itself.

Now, knowing what I know, having walked through what I have, and watching the Lord continue to heal me and rewrite my story, I honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way.

So wherever you are in your motherhood journey, Happy Mother’s Day to every kind of mother 💐 Because motherhood of any kind makes you a superwoman. And if you’re doing it on your own, an extra special species of superhuman 🫡💞 taken in Upper East Side by @snehasjoseph

A few of my favourite things and people in one of my favourite places I get to call home, with my son by my side and the people who’ve known me through different seasons of my life 🥲🫶🏽

Two weeks at home, in the place that shaped me, with the ones who held me through it all. It’s wild how everything feels so familiar…and yet, not quite the same. The places haven’t changed, but I have. Coming back has a way of revealing that, like a quiet litmus test of growth. I can see what’s healed, what’s softened, what’s grown in me…and what no longer fits the same way, and I can see it all with a little more depth and gratitude this time.

This is where my faith took root - where resilience was born in the hard things I faced here, and deepened in even harder seasons I’ve walked through more recently, living in another country. Grace met me here then, and I see it even more clearly now.

To carry both the beauty of breaking and the blessing of becoming, fully, in every season ✨

And in the middle of a full Masters season (working hard, reading lots, slightly losing track of what day it is 😅), I got to come home and play even harder, to rest deeply, eat so well, laugh loudly, and be held by good company. Long overdue catch-ups, familiar rhythms, and the kind of joy that fills you back up again.

Meanwhile, my little guy was fully living his best life, being loved on, looked after, and completely spoiled by family…where his every wish was basically their command 🥹

What a gift to have two places to call home. To carry it all - the past and the present, the shaping and the stretching, new ground I now stand on, and the life I’ve gotten to rebuild from it all, piece by piece. And to see how every season has been forming in me something deeper, steadier, and full of grace ✨

Happy Easter from me and mine ✨🤍
Home for Easter with my boy, who makes anywhere feel like home 🥲

As Kai said with full confidence: Easter is about Jesus rising from the “deadness” because He loves and cares for us, and honestly, he said it best. I’m so thankful for the price He paid and that He is alive.

Sunday’s triumph feels even sweeter after your own Friday and Saturday, with a God who understands and walks with you through it all. Even more special is being home, where it all began, where I first came to know God for myself and grew in my faith.

Woke up with this hymn on my mind: “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.” Knowing He is alive means nothing is lost, no pain wasted, every shadow of yesterday ends, and every new day holds promise and renewed hope 🤍 by @snehasjoseph

We were gifted the sweetest day at the Museum of Ice Cream this weekend 🤩🍦
This past year has been about collecting experiences over things, creating little moments of magic, and making memories that linger (though we still enjoy the occasional treat 😉). One of the best parts about being a parent is getting to be a kid again with your little one. At MOIC, that meant bright colours, music, games, UNLIMITED ice cream refills, and endless photo ops - a dream day for any adult… and yes, Kai said he had the best day ever too 😁

This season has been full in the best way, with Kai back at school and Mommy back at school too, diving into another semester of a dual-focus Master’s degree. Chasing your dreams as a mama looks like holding your child in one hand and rebuilding your life with the other, showing up tired but determined, all while trusting God for what’s still possible.

Living surrendered to the Lord has taught me that He will lovingly break down every false security, fear, and broken place so He can transform you from the inside out and rebuild something even stronger. Sometimes that breaking feels cruel and deeply unfair, but He never wastes our pain. He redeems it and grows strength where we once only survived.

It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been deeply healing and worth every step, especially when my son squeezes my hand while I’m mid-assignment or thesis writing and says, “Good job Mommy, I’m so proud of you.” 🥹 I’m reminded in those moments that rebuilding isn’t just for me… it’s shaping a future filled with courage, faith, and hope for the little eyes watching.

If you find yourself rebuilding or learning to stand again after life has knocked you down, please hear me: whatever you do, do not let go of hope, even a tiny flicker will do. And hold onto the Lord with everything you have, even if it feels like nothing. I’ve learnt He is near to the brokenhearted, faithful in the process, and gentle with the weary. And He is not done writing your story yet. The best is yet to come ✨ taken in MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM by @snehasjoseph

Had our own little New Year’s Eve party, getting completely slimed at Slime World 🤩🎉 Such a fun experience and the best way to end the year out with my boy! 🥳 We had a blast getting messy and my fav part was making a mess I didn’t have to clean 🤭 Kai especially loved our fun slime names and splatting and rolling around in all the squishy slime and we ended the day with custom making our very own slime 🤍 All in all, a super fun packed experience that we would definitely recommend 💯 taken in Sloomoo Institute by @snehasjoseph
