The first time I found it, I wasn’t looking for a bar, actually. I was just walking along the Korenlei, past the Ghent Marriott, past the obvious entrance, when I noticed there was another way in…
It sits underneath the hotel, inside an old cellar with its own entrance from the street.
Downstairs, the city feels different: quieter, darker… a little removed from everything above. And… yeah, maybe that’s what I like most about it : you know exactly where you are, and somehow it still feels hidden.

More than bars. We create experiences.

From the first idea to the last drink served, YJR creates, designs and operates places with an identity of their own.

Design. Atmosphere. Cocktails. Hospitality.
Every detail is part of the experience.

From SOAN in Ghent to Confessions in Brussels, and all the way to New York City : different concepts. Different cities… one vision.

Two cities, two atmospheres: one new signature cocktail menu.

While some combinations surprise, others may feel wonderfully familiar. Some would challenge your palate, whereas others will offer the simple comfort of a nice balanced drink.

An exploration of flavours, textures and contrasts, bringing together a new selection of creations, ready to be discovered.

The pleasure of making them is ours. The pleasure of discovering them is yours ❤️

HALLOWEEN CALLS FOR COSTUMES.

Our team definitely understood the assignment. Now it's your turn!

Come dressed up, get creative and show us what you've got. The crazier, the better!

A prize for the best costume at midnight. Think you've got what it takes?

See you tonight at Soan! by @soancocktails

Sitting at the bar really does change the drink.

You watch it come together before you ever taste it : the ice, the pour, the stir, the tiny adjustments that happen without a word. By the time the glass reaches you, directly from the hand that made it, you already know a little more about what’s inside.

Maybe that’s why I like sitting there : you don’t just get the cocktail, you get the few minutes before it, too. by @soancocktails

I don’t usually need an excuse to stay out late, but Halloween feels like a good one.

On Saturday 31 October, SOAN is staying exactly as you know it, just a little darker, a little louder, and hopefully a lot less recognisable.

It has come to my ears that @atticus_be will take over from 9:30PM, the dance floor will be ours, and yes…. We probably should be paying attention to the costumes, since at midnight, will be announced the best-dressed couple. The winners take home a €100 SOAN gift card and a bag of goodies !

Come dressed for the occasion, or come dressed as someone else entirely….

You know by now: when the seasons start to shift, something else usually changes too.
The current cocktail menu is almost ready to make room for the next one ; a few favourites are having their last nights, a few glasses their final orders, and soon there’ll be new names, new flavours, new reasons to stay a little longer.

I’m not saying goodbye just yet… but if there’s one you’ve been meaning to try, you know what to do ! by @soancocktails

Two bars. Two cities. Two very different personalities, but one shared vision : creating places where the experience matters just as much as what’s in your glass.

From Brussels to Ghent, Confessions and SOAN each have their own story to tell. And we’re happy to see them featured together in L’NEWS.

A big thank you to Céline Pécheux for putting our two worlds into words.

I think we give beginnings far too much credit. The first pour, the untouched glass, the moment everything still looks perfect.
But I’ve always preferred what happens in between: the first sip becoming the second, the conversation getting longer, the ice slowly losing its shape while nobody is paying attention.
And then there’s the end. An empty glass, a melting cube of ice, and very little evidence of what happened in between.

Which, in my experience, is usually a good sign. by @soancocktails

I did not mean to spam you about the lobster roll, but somehow it keeps finding its way back to my table. I told myself the first time was curiosity, the second time was confirmation, and after that I stopped looking for excuses. Maybe it’s the warm brioche, maybe it’s the lobster…. maybe some things are simply better when you don’t overthink them, don’t you think ?
I’m not saying you should order one… I’m just saying I probably will. 🦞 by @soancocktails

I’ve always liked watching someone make something they know by heart… there’s a moment when the recipe disappears and all that’s left is the gesture : a turn of the spoon, a little patience, and no hesitation at all.

Then suddenly, there it is : the art. 🍸 by @soancocktails
