Pokka Lemon bottles are lemon juice products shaped to liken lemons. Karasu Nets, directly translated as crow nets, are mesh nets that perform pest control measures in garbage disposal areas. I donโ€™t know how it started but I like these Things very much. I imagine a Pokka Lemon bottle enraptured in the yellow embrace of the mesh net, and I feel the need to recreate that situation. In materializing it, I find a new sense of delight in approaching these Things and I am reminded of the small happiness that dots the everyday. I am glad that whilst everyone including me, is constantly being bombarded by notions of significance and success, I can still feel satisfaction in merely sieving out the little details in mundane objects or daily life. I am glad that my somewhat futile conversations with these Things have informed me of my own being and also rejuvenated how I see the world. by @soberfeelz

Iโ€™m currently showcasing this series of work at a group show in Roppongi! I donโ€™t usually dye things, so this work was a huge technical challenge and I thoroughly love-hated the entire process. A huge shoutout to the wonderful craftsmen, Akiba-san and Konabe-san for helping me realize my unusual requests and @yksn_lee for teaching me the ways of stretching fabric over frames.

In an essence, BIG BEADS tackles the invisibility of Things-potency which is obscured by our anthropocentric perspective using straightforward color aesthetics and magnification. By illustrating the aura of beads through multi-colors, it serves as a simple entry-point to witness and stir a curiosity in discovering the immensity of vibrant matter. by @soberfeelz

Empathy is in My House
2021
Mixed media, embroidery, beading, papier maฬ‚cheฬ, weave, natural dye, programming

This is my first time making an installation of this scale using textile techniques and materials. Each of these objects was painstakingly made by hand and with love. Gaston Bachelardโ€™s Poetics of Space was the corner stone of this piece. Hidden within the everyday objects I have made are personal Easter eggs that I hope someone out there can relate to. If not, please enjoy peering into my subconscious made conscious, manifested into the interiors of my house.

On view as part of โ€œpbdq ๆŽ’ๆŽ’โ€ at ShanghART SG Annexe, Cally Tanโ€™s โ€œMilky Way Findsโ€ gathers a series of trinkets contributed by friends, held within double-woven silk pockets. Building on her earlier textile installation โ€œSayang Sayang in My Wet Pockets (2022)โ€, the work brings small, often overlooked objects into view, tracing how everyday remnantsโ€”from the traces of familiar routines to objects connected to a loved oneโ€”can hold memories and affection. The pockets function as viewfinders, framing these cherished, misplaced, forgotten, or lingering objects as akin to spotting debris orbiting within the Milky Way.

Cally Tan is a textile-forward object-maker whose practice explores objecthood, material agency, and the ways non-human matter can shape memory and emotion. Working through slow, accumulative textile processes, she creates works that reflect both intimate and unfamiliar relationships between people and everyday artefact.

The first fully covered heel shoe in Tangible Care history!

The leather upper is dyed in a lemon-hued grey, embroidered with musky red beads, with hints of sandy tones and black accents.

There have been all sorts of ideas running through my head recently, and Tangible Care is about to take a big leap in the coming months. Looking back at how my grandmotherโ€™s collection of beaded slippers brought me all the way here feels especially grounding.

Hoping to share some good news very soon!๐ŸŒž by @soberfeelz

Making a new pair for yours truly means itโ€™s time to go wild!!! ๐Ÿค

Finally gained the confidence to hand-stitch a Rapid Blake construction *gasp*.

The streamlined upper flowing into a low heel counter, paired with a sloped stacked heel โ€” a killer silhouette that Iโ€™m really happy with. And of course, a touch of beadwork makes the pair feel real special๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Itโ€™s been such a journey making this pair. But I dare say the most elegant piece Iโ€™ve ever made! The learning curve was tough, from lasting patch-worked uppers to edge ironing heel stacks, there was always a new skill to learn and practice.

Many thanks to its very very patient future owner for the graciousness, the patience and the encouragement. Very much in love with these mules and hope they do๐Ÿค by @soberfeelz

Tmr is the last day of 2025 ๐Ÿฅน
I am terrible at updating my life with the people I care for so hereโ€™s my slideshow for the year haha

1. Very lucky to have shown 3 exhibitions this year! One of which was my first time exhibiting in Taiwan. I am frieddddd. Iโ€™ve been bringing my bright yellow net everywhere. Kewpie baby has seen different exhibition scapes. A lot has been on my mind about art-making. Sometimes Iโ€™m in a slump, sometimes Iโ€™m all jumpy. Attempting to find a balance between making as pure curiosity vs habitual, rhythmic work has been humbling, sometimes painful, but perhaps a necessary process for the me right now.

2. If you havenโ€™t noticed, I moved to Taiwan earlier this Feb. Iโ€™m currently working in fashion, oh dear. But Iโ€™m lucky to be part of a working community who are very in touch with their craft and have a boss who lets me do what I know best (I think), weaving and dyeing. My days are filled with colleagues who not only know their shit, but who look like theyโ€™re in love with their respective expertises. Iโ€™m glad I get to see them in their zone, learn from them and finally meet with this genre of textiles, something Iโ€™ve actively avoided for a long time. I have had the pleasure of working with seamstresses and weaving artisans, all of them have been the cutest and strongest of aunties. One of them even endearingly calls me โ€œTong Tongโ€, it makes me feel warm.

3. Lee and I have been hustling hard!!! But we enjoy our time together, making our home of 6 months cozier each time we introduce new furniture into the space. I still hoard empty bottles of wine, he still leaves around half-drunken cups of sweet tea. Weโ€™ve been on car rides, eaten loads of hotpot and our new vice is being pieces of trash on weekends while playing PS5. He has been our everyday MVP.

4. My shoemaking skills have grownnnn!!! I can now make mules using actual shoe lasts! All hail the power of YouTube and occasional Q&A with leather lovers. Super thankful for friends, family and strangers for supporting tangible care๐Ÿฅฒ

Thatโ€™s about it; ok shut up Cally.
Wishing everyone a happy new year! And I hope that 2026 beholds a ton of exploration and kindness for everyone!๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰ by @soberfeelz

When I think about ski resorts, I think about fries. Even though they donโ€™t taste all that good, they just feel so good. They feel synonymous with the white snow, the clear blue skies and the steam that puffs out from peopleโ€™s mouths. They also paint a humorous picture when found scattered across the snow, ketchup and all. Someone must have dropped them as they ate and skied. Fun fact: lost objects often emerge in ski resorts when spring comes and the snow melts. Phones, USBs, whisky bottles, books and even a whole pineapple. by @soberfeelz

Beads on leather, asphalt

๐’ฐ๐“ƒ๐“๐’พ๐“€๐‘’๐“๐“Ž ๐’ฏ๐“‡๐’ถ๐“ƒ๐“ˆ๐’ถ๐’ธ๐“‰๐’พ๐‘œ๐“ƒ๐“ˆ is an experimental piece focusing on the act of falling as instances of passive object-encounters.
Passive as in, not actively sought after, rather so: coincidental, consequential, accidental, and maybe even undesirable.

How might we read objecthood when it does not come gently or consensually to us? What happens when in encountering an object, we lose another?

I experienced a Terrible Fall when I was younger, I ended up losing a hairband I loved dearly. I searched under cars, amidst the shrubbery and in sewages, but to no avail. In exchange, I got deep gashes on my knees that have faded into faint blemishes over the years. Like most kids, the sight of asphalt stings. A morphed and profound memory of the lost hairband still gnaws at the back of my mind. by @soberfeelz

My nephews stubbornly bring their toys and figurines to the dinner table; no one can stop them. Their cheap toys of poorly casted plastic animals, only made recognizable by their lazy paint jobs, litter the table even before the food has arrived. Against neatly arranged crockery and well placed luncheon mats, a strangely luminescent tiger lays upside down on the table, legs up in the air. Saturday lunch is about to begin.
