🌸”I’ll do a Mother’s Day post!”
.
This is what I told @deebeck the other day. I had such great plans (as always) - I would give myself a mani, paint my nails, and share a very ‘springy’ shade.
.
But after polishing my nails, I picked up the cat too soon, smudged my nails, and had to quickly find the polish remover before I rushed out of the house. So, nothing to see here.😌
.
That’s just how it is some days. Though I haven’t made it back to the amazing @getnaild757…I am moisturized with her luxury body lotion…and happy to be a mom to 2 phenomenal adult humans, who I get to spend the day with.
.
Just dropping us all a reminder to stay flexible, grateful, and above all else…moisturized…no matter what the plans WERE. by @socialnails.fun

It’s wild how one simple compliment can open up friendship doors that might not otherwise be opened!

At the #NABShow in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, @deebeck started chatting with the amazing @kyragracee about nails—and the convo quickly evolved to filmmaking, storytelling, acting, the state of the entertainment industry, and being a woman in the film landscape. There was something very special about expressing ourselves through nails in a very tech-heavy conference. ✨ New friendship, unlocked!

Loved getting to meet @emily.pando — another badass multi-hyphenate in the film industry. Being surrounded by put-together, intelligent women on top of their game was so energizing. And nails were the perfect cherry on top! 🍒

🌹Spring has sprung…I know I know. But it snowed ‘somewhere’ last week! And I’m still catching up with LIFE, from the last month’s snow that we had.

It doesn’t happen often, but there’s a calm that comes from ‘sheltering in place’ when we have the privilege of being warm and safe, with the opportunity to take in nature’s beauty.

Danielle was co-working jn a cafe recently and couldn’t help but notice the barista Sammi’s fab nails. Thankfully, she got some snaps on the way out, and Sammi shared that her manicurist puts a hint of *chrome* powder in the mix to give that extra shine. ✨

Also, can we talk about this fun jewelry too!? Hand-scaping is on point.

✋🏾💚touch grass…even if it appears dry, brittle, and stiff. It lowers our stress levels, allows us a break from doomscrolling, and improves our emotional well-being.

Black polish embodies the zeitgeist of 2025, thus far, for me. It’s been a reminder to ’sit with all of the emotional ebbs and flows’…but also to keep getting up and working through them too.

Our friend @jschwartz1 *sleighed* the holiday nail and movie season with her @wickedmovie inspired nails!

💅🏼 Her manicurist was Happy at @glossnailspa in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. Happy did hard gel and decided to add in crystals for a special touch!

💖 Happy lives up to her name. Not only does she have a joyful presence, she has a keen artistic eye, and her manicures LAST. Triple threat!

✨What’s on your nails right now!?!
White Gel Toes

✨Tell us about your first nail polish encounter (that you can remember)!
When I was a youngin I remember wanting clear nail polish, but scared to say anything. So i finally got my nails done in college and then all these guys start getting it on their nails. It was a great experience and relaxing!

✨Share a funny nail story!
Soooo I remember telling the pedicurist that I wanted white gel nail polish on my toes, everyone looked at her and snickered,… I then gently removed my socks and had my previous white nail polish on my feet …and she didn’t think my feet would be this kept up (i always have the translator on my phone) …

I then heard one of them say I have “Cardi B feet” …I immediately thought of when Cardi says “White toes, eating yellow tail outta Nobu” which is literally the life I’m on the way to. 🫠😝

✨What does having manicured nails mean to you?
It’s part of my allure now, my magic, my expression, it represents the beauty of my grounding and ability and move energy with my hands. So manicuring them is a gift to my highest self and current self in respect of the journey both my hands and feet will take me on. I haven’t always felt as confident with myself, and that has shifted considerably! The clear gel manicure is to always sparkle in the reflection of light that my hands hold and the white gel toes, respectively represent the beauty of the journey I walk and that my feet take me on every day

✨How have nails been a connector or conversation starter in your life?
Not before my 44th year of life, and ironically in the year of 8, I’ve accepted all of me. So yes my white toes have been a convo starter a lot!

✨What are your nail rituals?
I see the same nail tech person now every 2 weeks.

🌈🚗💪🏼 #NAILFILE008 | We’re so happy to be hearing from our friend @jenniecreatesco and her Nail Tale this week! 💕💅🏼

Jennie - tell us about these photos…
“I got my nails done in rainbow colors for Pride Month a couple of years ago in the desert. On my drive back to LA, my car got stuck in a sandstorm, and I had to dig myself out. Those nails were gone within 24 hours of getting them!”

What does having manicured nails mean to you?
“Self Expression. The color is always a reflection of my mood at that moment or at least a mood I am trying to achieve.”

Tell us about your FIRST polish experience…
“My mom went to beauty school in the 80’s. She used to take me to night class with her when I was 4-5 years old. My obsession with having regularly manicured nails dates back over 30 years!”

What’s your nail ritual?
“I go every 2 weeks like clockwork. It’s definitely an indulgence, but one I think I deserve. Like PSLs and guacamole on my Chipotle.”

Thanks for sharing Jennie! We love the story of you digging yourself out of a sandstorm. It’s a depiction of how we can show up all polished and perfect, ready to celebrate something–and then sometimes things don’t go according to plan. Good for you for getting your hands dirty (literally) and digging (literally) yourself out of a tough spot. That’s true girl power! 💪

🥹#NailFile007 | Social gatherings bring out not only quite a few people, but also the best and worst in people.

I’ve always walked into rooms and greeted folks with a genuine smile. While many have traditionally responded in kind, I was always puzzled [and hurt] by those who returned my greeting with:

. a variety of FLAT expressionless faces
. “Why do you smile all the time?”
. “She smiles too much.”
. literal eye rolls
. tight jaws

In fact, as an adolescent, I used to wrack my brain, trying to figure out ‘what was wrong with me’. But…I kept living, and realized that speculation is also the thief of joy…and yields nothing.

There is freedom in walking rooms, understanding the energy, and going in the direction which it’s secure, positive, and pure.

Especially during this time in history, it’s important that we surround ourselves with those who are seeking safe, reciprocal, and mutually-beneficial exchanges.

Am I alone in this experience? Can anyone relate? We’re not really worrying about ‘what it’s about’…but what’s it about?!!!
