Okay. Imagine if there was no Sofar Chennai show coming up.

Just... nothing. 😱

No secret venue. No surprise artists. No room full of people who actually listen. Genuinely terrifying, right?

Yeah. We thought so too.

Anyyway, we're back on October 24th. 👻 And tickets are live right now.

Almost a year ago, I found myself in Chennai on a trip that was never really part of the plan.

Right after the Steven Wilson concert, I met Fat Jesus, and he casually said, Come to Chennai. Since I was solo traveling anyway, I thought… why not?

That unexpected decision led me to a Sofar Sounds Chennai session, filled with incredible artists and some of the warmest people I met on that journey.

One performance stayed with me the most. Himanshu. His songwriting, his voice, the way he played, everything felt so honest and effortless. It was also the day I discovered that a PRS acoustic guitar sounds just as beautiful as it looks.

Some of the best memories come from plans you never made.

Thank you, Sofar Sounds Chennai, for creating a space where strangers become an audience, and artists become unforgettable.

I know Its a ass long video, just sharing here so that i can come here anyday and be nostalgic .

Every once in a while, Sofar Chennai gets some very special guests. The kind who show up without a ticket, steal everyone's attention, and somehow make the room feel even warmer.

10/10. Would allow them in again. #PupsOfSofar

Some venues just get it. @paperflite is one of them. 🖤

This is the third time they have opened their doors to Sofar Chennai — and the second time since our current team took over the chapter. Each time we've been here, it's been in their newest office after yet another expansion.

Watching them grow while they continue to make space for us and for Chennai's independent music community means more than we can say. Thank you, Paperflite.

This show was also made possible by the people and creators who showed up alongside us.

@sun.shine.house — our Queer Community Partner for Pride Month. Thank you for standing with us in building a space where everyone belongs.

@dhanushsreekanth — for feeding the room with something genuinely delicious and unexpected.

@cryptids.crochet — for bringing their soft, squishy, ridiculously adorable creations and giving everyone something beautiful to take home.

Our greatest gratitude will always be for @dmellos.audiolights who makes sure everyone in the room has the best experience of the live music equally. 🖤

This is their second time performing live. Would you believe it?! They walked in and absolutely destroyed the room. 🖤

The Dipshit Ladies are a comedy music trio who sing about the things we all quietly relate to — everyday life, existential crises, the anxiety of people pleasing, cats, rabies from stray dogs, and the deeply sacred institution of a sandwich shop!

Their set had a dance break. A mid-performance commercial. And actual sandwiches that were, by all accounts, questionable. The room lost it — in the best possible way.
Only their second show ever. We genuinely cannot wait to see where they go. 🎶

He brought FOUR guitarists to one stage. @where.are.the.mangas has zero chill. 🤩🎸
We caught MANGAS just in time before he leaves the country to study. Of course, he went all out with his act!

All his music, rewritten for an acoustic set, an army of talented Chennai musicians by his side (including his brother), rotating four guitarists through the set!

This set was a masterclass in controlled chaos. 🖤

Mossrose reached out to us asking if she could perform. We said yes instantly! 🖤
What started as a two-piece act organically became something much bigger — a full-set band that came together specifically for this one show. And they absolutely filled the room.

Gorgeous, gorgeous music from start to finish. Thank you, Mossrose. For reaching out, for showing up, and for bringing an entire universe of talent with you. 🎶

There's knowing the music scene. And then there's @thechennaiscene . 🎂

He's worked with festivals across the country, the who's who of the music world and this man still chooses to spend his evenings arguing with us about the line ups in a small secret room in Chennai. 🩷

Every artist who has played on a Sofar Chennai stage has his instinct behind them. No one spots talent like Srikanth does. ✨

Happy birthday da machan! The show literally would not go on without you. 😘 by @sofarchennai
