7 years ago, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. In three weeks, I will run the New York City Marathon with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training.

During treatment, I walked 26.2 miles, one lap around the nurses’ station at a time. What started as small steps became a reminder to keep moving forward, even when the finish line felt impossibly far away, and let me dare to dream of a day when my route might look very different.

Now, I have the incredible privilege of running 26.2 miles through New York City, celebrating the second chance at life I was given and fighting for everyone still waiting for theirs.

I am running for every child, every family, and every person whose life has been touched by blood cancer. To ensure everyone has the resources and hope to keep walking, keep dreaming, and one day cross a finish line of their own.

These are not fights that can, or should, be fought alone. I would not be here to tell my story without the extraordinary village that walked alongside me and organizations like LLS working towards every person’s success story.
