Nun momento de omnipresenza do dixital, nun lugar onde a propia tecnoloxía dialoga coa nova creación contemporánea, as voces do #EncontrodeArtesNovas reivindican a palabra, o presencial, a mirada próxima.

Revised Cartographies: Becoming Hyper-conscious

I am so happy to have been able to teach this workshop at the @uia2026bcn designed and created by @ibiye_camp , alongside her and @laurenlois.wip , how lucky to be amongst such brilliant talented and inspiring women!
Thank you for your support throughout @mcamposq5 !
Leaving here some photos of the exhibition pieces done by the workshop participants during the past days, some wip, setup, the space and the plenary session panel discussing the work 🙏

Revised Cartographies gathers a language of rescripted techniques through calico cloth. Markmarking and translating the landscape onto the cloth with heat inscribed a voided memory. The marks are Point Clouds, rendered and cut into the surface, they do not simply describe space, it’s a fragmenting the authority of architectural permanence into a grainy presence. Here, data is held, pressed, and burned into fabric as a record of power’s uneven distribution.

Drawing from the Pelete Bite, a technique from Buguma in Southern Nigeria, the work insists on mark-making as a reclaiming technique. The fabric is not a backdrop but a site of encounter, where concentrated heat alters its condition, echoing both its new and original form. These gestures refuse the distance of digital abstraction, returning the point cloud to touch, to ritual, to land.

In this space, material contrast becomes a method of rebellion.

Sharing this photo as my first post in a long while. This article was written in September by journalist Ana Carro, whom I shared my master’s thesis project with, developed at the Royal College of Art.
The River of Forgetfulness proposes a digital realm as a response to a displaced community in the Limia Valley.
I will soon be translating the website to access the project in Galician and Spanish.

Green Desert is an interactive interface where the trees will speak both human languages and tree languages. They don't need to be heard but can be smelled, seen, and electrically felt.
Inspired by an abandoned plantation in Tambo Island in the Estuary of Pontevedra, where the military carried out several experiments after winning the Civil War and therefore closed the island to the public up until today. By alternating the Tree’s opinions on the situation I criticise the management of the forest and the anthropocentric view toward tree-life forms.

Sneak peak of My entry for the #xpawards2022 is this recorded experience of the interface. @thexpawards

SOUNDSCAPE ARCHIVE; Pleasure and silence
The urban pleasure garden is defined through a soundscape where visual and auditory experiences engages the user with the introduction of sound into architectural design. The archive building located beneath the landscape consists of a research centre for musicians and students from the Royal College of Music.
The differences between the senses of sight and sound is described through all elements of the project. The sound mirrors visually reflect the surroundings with sectional profiles that reveal the physics behind the sound making. The amphitheatre, modelled at true scale to the original Epidaurus in Greece, is seen as an expression of perfect sound while the said perfect auditory qualities are experienced through an auditorium located alongside this visual representation. Additional and ancillary facilities whether programmatic, circulatory and/or experiential are all designed to enhance the understanding of sound in relation to different spatial forms.

The interest for exploring how sound interacts with design theory was awaken by The Manhattan Transcripts, Bernard Tschumi invented a transcription method to communicate relevant objects of study for architecture subject.

The first ‘architecture as sound’ presented is a poem born from the The Memorial Gallery proposal.
(My own method for transcription)

My favorite part of this project was the design process, where I first stablished 6 sound categories on site, to later associate each of them with different programs and combine them into a diagram. This diagram was converted into a 3D model that mirrored its plan and elevation. I set up a combination of historical grids that later turned into a new 3D model, where the intersections of the grids had gained different meanings.
A programmatic layout was the result of this model that was later translated into the first image of this post.(relief model of the proposed building and installations)

Check the link in my bio for more drawings🌟✌️

The Salon Of Crossed Destinies: Porosity And Natural History

The Salon is defined as a gallery located in Hyde Park, at Albertopolis northernmost  point. This is my interpretation of a contemporary Salon, an ode to knowledge and preservation in the form of experience, a ´sweet disorder and carefully careless’ side sight to Victorian history.

Four locations in Albertopolis take part, two different constructions are proposed in Hyde Park; The main building located facing the north facade of Albert Memorial, is composed of four bespoke interconnecting viewing galleries, this multifunctional spaces give visitors the chance to learn and see history through another perspective, considering concepts such as porosity and natural history.
Each gallery offers an activity, debating, reading, acting... The connection walkways work as a galleries for the Royal College of Art students and reveal a secondary installation.

If you’d like to know more about the concept check the slides or the project portfolio on my website (description)
