I met the most incredible people in Bali. Many of them genuinely changed the course of my life through just a few conversations 🥲 These pics were all taken the last week when I began to feel a huge weight lift off my shoulders… permission to release myself from years of inner turmoil. Can you see it in my smile? ☺️ Now I’m back and transitioning into NYC life again (start teaching this Tuesday!) with a new perspective and open heart. Bali and Borneo have followed me home. What an awesome whirlwind my parents and I just experienced together… the reverberations continuing every moment of every day! To all of these beautiful people we met - remember, you always have a place to stay with me in NYC 🥹 Until next time! by @sofiezamchick

2nd week of Malaysian Borneo was A LOT! 🤯

Starting off with the Gomantong Cave full of millions of cockroaches, bats, centipedes, swiftlets, snakes, other creepy crawlys, and mounds & mounds of… poop! 🤢

Then Danum Valley (the VALLEY of the trip for sure, but also what brought us the most meaning). 4 hikes a day in the rainforest, led by our amazing tour guide Jeffrey who basically kept us alive lol, safe from leeches 😳 We had no electricity in our room from 11pm to 7am which meant no AC or fan 🥵 in the extreme humidity/heat. It was intense, but by this time, I gotta say I was LOCKED IN, feeling super ~one~ with nature, spotting animals everywhere we went, and in awe of the whole experience.

Our final destination was the Tabin Wildlife Reserve, which felt like paradise compared to Danum (mostly due to having AC in our room). But, admittedly, in hindsight, we all kinda missed Danum and its challenges LOL! 😂

With our new enthusiastic tour guide, Adzmee, we saw manyyyy Pygmy elephants super close up (unbelievable) 🐘 Gibbons (sound ON - we’re absolutely obsessed with the way they communicate and move), civets, and more. Also… visited the mud volcano 🌋 and then put it all over our faces lol, swam by a waterfall, and watched the sunrise from up on a rickety tower. I never thought I’d be so excited about finding a 12-inch (?) millipede, but here we are! 😂 by @sofiezamchick

My intro to Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” was, admittedly, this parody version “Sock to Find” from a super cute children’s mini-series called “Whoopi’s Littleburg.”

Created by Jonny Belt and Robert Scull (pre-Bubble Guppies!), I voiced TJ the Cat, alongside @therealseancurley as Spencer the Pig, @marytesta.actress as the Sock Lady, and @whoopigoldberg of course as the Mayor of Littleburg!

I believe this was my first VO job in animation 🥹 - pre-Wonder Pets. @robertscull and @cryptidpicnic were incredibly kind and fun to work with - I remember having a blast in the studio. And the show was ADORABLEEEE!

First week in Malaysian Borneo in Sabah! The peak of our trip!! Met some of the most wonderful humans and animals. Orangutans 🦧 and Sun Bears 🐻 in Sepilok & soooo many incredible animals along the Kinabatangan River 🐒 🐍 🦇 🐘 🐊 🐦 🦎 Absolutely unbelievable. Never thought I’d be this excited when a millipede shat on my hand, but we grow and we learn!

Because a few old friends have reached out recently to tell me they still remember the words to this song 16 years later 🥹 (amid all the hoopla around The Odyssey movie)… I present to you this deeply cringe artifact.

My original song, “Lovers Row,” written from Penelope’s POV for a sophomore English class project in high school. Naturally, I then made this extremely high-production-value music video (thanks @antonioponti ) 📸 with good friends @bouissoumadeleine on cello and Bada Kim on bass. Filmed at @sisters.in.arms.us ‘s house!

I got an A+, motherfuckers!

“Finders Keepers” - a silly lil song from my one-woman solo show “Miss America: Live from Nameless, TN” 🚐

Was inspired to revisit this because my friend @kaitwarner just announced she’ll be teaching another Crafting Your Solo class! Writing this show a few years back was super meaningful to me and I still want to make a concept album and take next steps! If you’re interested, go check out Kait’s intensive!! :)

I love my little gallery of women! They stare at me and eavesdrop. This was written 2 years ago when I was a sad couch potato 🥔 they were like, girlllll get the fuck up and do something!
