A story I don't share too often is about my days as a bedside nurse.

My nursing career began on a liver and kidney transplant floor.

I witnessed lives being given a second chance while others slowly withering away.

It was challenging to be on the front lines, witnessing a life slowly having its fate decided.

Some shifts were filled with stress, overwhelm, and a sense of defeat.

Most work shifts were filled with frustration, bodily fluids, medication, anger, confusion, annoyance, and nearly every negative emotion or overstimulating thing imaginable.

Isn't that life, though? Just a pile of nonsense we are trying to navigate through in the most doable way possible?

What if allowing more discovery and curiosity was permitted in our days?

One of my favorite things I miss about bedside nursing is sitting next to my patients and asking them, "Who are you when you aren't a patient in a hospital?"

The moment I gave them permission to have a different identity, they always lit up.

You can do this too. Just give yourself permission to know there is more to you than you think.

Are you this woman to yourself?

I am still working on this. Being perfect and having it figured out does not exist.

But my intention to becoming a healthy woman has opened doors full of security, love, wisdom, and power.
It has enhanced areas of my life that I never knew health could belong in.

This could have not been reached without the guidance of other healthy women or the one’s on the journey of discovery themselves.

At my job, I got the nickname SO-FIYA (aka so fire). So enjoy the latest sparks of sof ❤️‍🔥

Recently, I have been injecting more color, joy, and humor into my life. It’s been fun to cultivate this practice more after being so lost in the sauce of transition & change & big feelings. As you get bored, overstimulated, anxious, isolated, or lonely, remember to come back to the things that use to make you smile (it’s okay if it’s a little silly btw), even those small moments can mean such big things as we get to understand what life is all about.

Go have fun, record funny videos, bounce back, sign some shoes, be cool in your own way, eat good, indulge every once in a while, serve looks, celebrate others, move that body, notice the little things, feel the wind in your air, and most importantly just give the world your smile. 😊 by @sofiyastasiv

Oh how I love being a woman & how I love friendships & witnessing them grow up into wonderful humans & supporting them through most life’s ups & downs & how much laughter there is when we bond and experience life together.

First time solo camping. Nervous? Absolutely.
Did it anyway? That’s the plot, mama.

I didn’t sleep great. Bugs found their way in. My air mattress humbled me.
I may be a princess about my sleep, yet I still wouldn’t trade this night for anything.

Solo adventures aren’t about fearlessness. They’re about being nervous and going anyway.

For my fellow women wanting to try:
▸ Share your location with someone you trust
▸ Store food away from wildlife
▸ Give yourself grace when plans change

📍 Raccoon Branch Campground, VA (quiet + safe)

Here’s what I’m learning:
Sometimes you need to go solo to trust yourself.
And sometimes you need a circle of women to remind you how far you’ve come.

That’s why we created the Costa Rica retreat. Solo moments for reflection. Group energy for safety + “I can’t believe we did that” memories. No camping required.

Fun fact: I’m a secret DIY YouTube addict. 😅
Watching people transform spaces with their own hands? Pure joy.

But lately, I’ve been asking myself—what if I stopped watching and started doing?

So here I am in DC, trying interior design for the first time.
Terrified I’m not “creative enough.”
But also terrified of staying the same.

Travel taught me that adventure isn’t just a passport stamp—it’s a mindset.
And if I can climb a volcano in Costa Rica, surely I can rearrange a room in DC.

Your world gets more colorful when you travel it.
But what if you brought that same explorer energy home?

That’s what I’m practicing right now.
And honestly? It’s way more fun than I expected.

Ommmmg. I haven’t written an Instagram diary in so long!!

Okay now that I got you hooked…

It’s been 8 months since I changed states, careers, communities, and everyday mundane things. Everywhere I look, I’m discovering something new. For a while, I was so scared to experience it all. And if you know me, that is not the Sofiya spirit. East coast winter definitely didn’t help either. Luckily, spring is here. So as another season goes, we learn to move through it. Moving has included a lot of travel, new homes, walking, and dancing.

I’m thankful to be finally feel settled into DC (sorta). I’ll be writing how life is going in my homie newletter if you wish to read up on it next week. Until then, enjoy my collected shots that make me smile, grounded, appreciative, giggly, & awaken me lately in life 🤭 by @sofiyastasiv
