I’m deeply saddened as I write this, trying to accept the reality that this great man is gone. Life is short indeed.

I met Mr Dimbo at a client’s office. Something within me said, “You need to meet this man.” So I introduced myself, and we exchanged contacts.

Shortly afterwards, while planning my first event in Jos, I had a lightbulb moment: I knew he had to be there. I reached out, and he warmly embraced the idea and committed to showing up.

On the day of the event, he drove all the way from Abuja. His vehicle even developed a fault along the way, but he continued. Unfortunately, with so much happening in the final hours before the event, I forgot to check in with him. He wasn’t pleased, and rightly so, but he expressed it with grace.

After that event, I visited his studio in Abuja twice. We spoke about many important ideas, the projects he was working on, and the collaborations we hoped to pursue together. How I wish those ideas had come to life. How I wish you had stayed with us much longer.

This stings deeply, but through all my reflections, I remain grateful.

Thank you for your generosity towards me, for your genuine heart, and for the passion you brought to your craft. I’m grateful that you spent your life sharing all you had to offer.

Thank you for being a light—and for helping others shine too.

Rest well, Mr Dimbo.

Today, I celebrate the life of my late uncle, Hakeem Shitta.

I never got the chance to know him. I was only three when he passed, but I grew up hearing stories of his brilliance. Everywhere I turned, I heard the same thing: “You remind me of Hakeem.” That has always meant more to me than I can explain.

A photographer, painter, graphic designer, publisher, martial artist, and relentless creative, he lived a life of curiosity and contribution. He didn’t just create beautiful work; he documented a generation and left behind evidence that a life devoted to creativity can outlive the creator.

Today, on his posthumous birthday, I remember him with gratitude. His story continues to inspire mine, and I hope to honour his legacy by building with the same courage, generosity, and creative spirit.

Happy heavenly birthday, Uncle Hakeem.

“What are they doing when they travel?”

That’s probably the wrong question to ask. Maybe we should be asking “what are they NOT bringing back?”

Every few months, another politician boards a plane, tours a “model city,” and comes home to zero change. We’ve called it corruption for years. But that explanation is too easy and it’s letting us off the hook too. I thought deeper about this and packed my thoughts into 4 part series unearthng what lies beneath. by @sojii_oy

Economic Incentives drive Human behavior more then anything. People are willing to be naked, criticized, even die for the promise of return.

Money is not the only motivation but it’s definitely one very potent factor in how, where, and why humans choose to live.
