During an 18 month sabbatical, I wondered about what I would do next. While anxiously awaiting for passion or purpose to find me, a sweet person said, “don’t worry, your heart will wake up soon.” And maybe it finally has; still laying under the covers, stretching this way and that, but undeniably, finally awake. Looking at all I did (and gave away) with Makers Mess doesn’t hold the same sting of sadness I felt for the past couple years. Instead, I’m overwhelmed with pride for all the incredible people I met, worked with and brought together, and the unique creative magic that Makers Mess gave to Los Angeles. In 2015 I built the business I needed for myself.

Today marks 2 years since our family grew to 4 generations. There’s a saying that you can choose your friends but not your family. But I think a family is choosing each other again and again. Two years ago, in the early morning hours, peeking under the wrapped blanket, I experienced the undeniable familiar recognition that I felt uniquely with each of my daughters. This one tickled me and made me laugh. I was so happy to be in her company again. Bella and Wilson thank you for guiding this girl into our lives. by @sojustthinking
