Focus less on sin, more on Christ.

We need to start teaching people coming into the faith to just focus on Jesus. It sounds simple but we don’t do this enough.

There is this huge misunderstanding that the way to defeating sin is strategizing all these different techniques on how to avoid it, but here’s the honest truth :

The only way to defeat sin in your life is to consume that time with Christ. It’s the only way.

The authority has already been given to you, you simply are not walking in the confidence of that faith. Christ is victorious. He is the victory. He needs to be the central focus.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

While we were separated from God, he died for us. He didn’t wait for us to get right to love us.

And what he desires is faith.

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Nothing pleases God more than our faith and trust in him. And when we come to him we need to come boldly. We should have an anticipation of what he’s going to do because of who he is.

And when we trust him, there’s an assurance because of Who he is that he will transform our life. by @soldoutsaints

“Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

After Paul breaks down the basic tenant of salvation being not of works but through faith,

He doubles back to insert the necessity of works and why we do work.

We work because we are saved not to be saved.

He also states that our works are not a gift , meaning our works are something God is impressed with.

It is not as if God “needs” our works and that we “bless” him, although he is pleased and overjoyed by them. God is not lacking, so our works are not a “reward” to God.

Rather, Christ desires for us to follow him sheerly out of love. by @soldoutsaints

“For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Paul explains in one verse how we cannot be justified before a holy and righteous God by our good deeds.

If our good deeds made us righteous, we would have something to boast about. In fact, we would be the ones receiving glory because it was our behavior that got us across the line.

God is the great equalizer, in that he is so holy and righteous that all of us fall short, and he is so loving and merciful that all who will be saved are saved purely off his strength and not their own. by @soldoutsaints

“For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Paul is making his exhortation to the Romans on salvation , he is quoting Moses in the book of Genesis regarding the justification of Abraham.

You see, in the scriptures, we see Abraham was deemed righteous by God before he had a chance to perform any works. The term “counted unto him for righteousness” is this context is synonymous with justification, in that when one is deemed righteous their salvation in Christ is secure.

Paul builds off of previous chapters where he clarifies how works cannot save, how we are all are unrighteous and not good, and this leads into his exhortation in Romans chapter 4. by @soldoutsaints

Baltimore Evangelism Recap :

I’m not for big captions unless it’s real deep edifying breakdowns, but one thing is for sure :

God was glorified this past weekend.

A time was spent in fellowship.

A time was spent Worshipping our Lord.

A time was spent Evangelizing.

Personally I had an encounter with 1 man that shifted a lot in my walk with Christ, and interestingly enough this encounter was directly connected to scripture the lord had already put on my heart before the trip.

Gods Church is active and outside, and I was definitely encouraged by the travel.

Extremely grateful to everyone that sowed into this trip and helped to make it happen. I love you all deeply.
