We’re excited to share an important update with our community. After a thoughtful review led by our Nonprofit Selection Committee, SolMateo is welcoming two new grantees: Family Connections (@peninsulafamilyconnections) and NAMI of San Mateo County (@nami_smc). Their work strengthens early intervention, family support, advocacy, and peer connection throughout the county.

At the same time, we are continuing our longstanding commitment to the @Mental Health Association of San Mateo County (@mhaofsmc), honoring a partnership that has been at the heart of our mission for decades.

This expanded direction reflects what we heard throughout the process: that our community needs a broader, more connected continuum of mental health support from early childhood through adulthood. We’re grateful to the volunteers who helped guide this journey and to The Arora Collective (@collectivearora) for supporting this meaningful shift.

Join us at Snow Day on December 5 to hear more about this new chapter and the impact these three organizations will make together. 🎟 Get your tickets before November 26

A parent who attended NAMI San Mateo County's Ending the Silence presentation shared this:

"That day I went to your presentation, I learned so much from everything that was shared. Sometimes as adults we convince ourselves that we're fine, that nothing is really wrong, but deep down, something is always there. No matter how strong we try to be, it stays with us. When the warning signs for suicide were shared, I recognized several of them in myself, from an especially difficult time in my life. That presentation stirred up so many feelings in me. It helped me see things differently and understand how to support others better when they're going through something hard."

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and stories like this one are why community education matters. One presentation can change how someone sees their own struggle, and how they show up for the people around them.

If you or someone you love needs support, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is there any time, day or night, by call or text. NAMI San Mateo County's HelpLine is also available: 1-800-950-NAMI.

This year’s Kitchen Tour was one for the books and you made that happen!

Guests wandered through some of San Mateo’s most beautiful homes, sampled incredible food and drink from local vendors, and danced to live music, all in support of mental health services right here in San Mateo County.

You made this our most successful Kitchen Tour ever, raising more than any year in our 50 year history. Every dollar goes straight back into the programs that support our neighbors.

Thank you to the homeowners, vendors, sponsors, and everyone tour guest. Take a look at the tour book and tell us your favorite part! https://www.solmateo.org/signature-kitchen-tour. taken in San Mateo County by @solmateo_org

Today marks World Suicide Prevention Day. This year’s global theme is Changing the Narrative on Suicide. The call to action is simple: start the conversation.

Here in San Mateo, that means paying a little more attention to the people around us. Noticing when someone’s been quieter than usual. Asking a real question instead of a passing one. Making space for someone to actually answer.

If you or someone you love needs support, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is there any time, day or night, by call or text. NAMI San Mateo County also runs a free HelpLine for anyone looking for guidance.

You don’t have to wait for a crisis to start the conversation.

Another school year, another graduation to celebrate.

This year, 73 children and their families crossed the finish line across @peninsulafamilyconnections six Early Learning classrooms.

Every graduation represents something bigger: a family that invested early, and a program built to support them every step of the way. Early intervention changes the trajectory of a family’s mental health, and this milestone is proof of that.

Congratulations to every family who graduated this year. We’re proud to stand behind you. taken in San Mateo County by @solmateo_org

Summer means one thing at @mhaofsmc housing sites: community picnics.

Neighbors are gathering for BBQs, games, and good company all season, building up to the all-client picnic at the end of August, complete with the traditional water balloon toss (undefeated tradition, some might say).

This is what community-built mental health support looks like: showing up for each other, all year round. by @solmateo_org

We kicked off our 50th anniversary in the best way possible: an afternoon at the beautiful Crosby Estate, surrounded by more than 100 neighbors, friends, and partners who've walked this journey with us.

Fifty years of showing up for mental health services in San Mateo. Fifty years of community over crisis. We spent the afternoon celebrating what's been built, and getting excited about what's next.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, and to our newest grantee partner for sharing such inspiring words. Here's to the next chapter. 💛

More milestone moments coming all year. Stay close. by @solmateo_org

A year ago, SolMateo was sitting with a lot of uncertainty.

One of our longtime grantee agencies was closing, and we were trying to figure out how to celebrate our 50th anniversary the right way, all at the same time.

Fast forward to our End of Year Luncheon this June, and we found our footing. We welcomed two new grantee partners, @peninsulafamilyconnections and @nami_smc, alongside @mhaofsmc, and awarded a combined $275,000 in grants, the most we’ve ever given in a single year.

Getting here took a lot of early meetings, a lot of Zoom calls, and a whole community pulling in the same direction. As our co-president Jenny put it from the podium: “I stand before you humbled and deeply proud of how far we have come this year.”

Fifty years in, and we’re still building.

Thank you to every board member, volunteer, and neighbor who made this our biggest year of giving yet. taken in San Mateo County by @solmateo_org
