Over a half oz. difference from one end of the stick to the other after cutting a very dense stick of AYC into blanks. I would consider this a lemon and a gem at the same time. How you work the wood and what you decide to use if for is where the magic happens in plug building. I will take the heavier side of each blank and position it to compliment the balance of the plug and make it even better. Every piece of wood is a puzzle, the wood tells you what plug it wants to be when you figure it out. These are not gonna be lemons turned into lemonade, they are diamonds in the rough. This is the type of wood that puts the mojo in a plug 😎. by @solstice_lures

212 needle coming to @narragansett_surfcasters surf day, This is one of my rare bird plugs I'm doing for the show that I cant do on the regular. I have to wait for the perfect piece of wood to come along. It's a technical, slow sink, lofty, slip it down an edge, drop it into a pocket, serve it up on a silver platter big fish plug. Margin of fluctuation on the plug weights of .06 oz, hardware weight .19 oz. to put this plug right at 2.12 oz. which is the magic number. You don't need to be a needlefish wizard to get bent on this plug but I can help you get there and speak on how I do it. I'm really looking foreword to the show, come talk fishing, plugging techniques, special deliveries, stories of the one that got away. Dropping big fish on needles has always been an issue for me. Ive run through every hook setup/rig I could think of or that was suggested to me over the years and nothing has stood out, everything seems to have its own flaw. Im no stranger to the split/swivel/split rig, but my issue with that has always been maintaining the right weight distribution/balance on the plug and split rings threading off the small swivel. Nomad size S, spro power swivel #2 , Nomad size S, and most importantly the BKK 1/0 fang 63-ua makes this setup, its perfect! the hook is so strong, light and sticky it just slips right in the bass's mouth when they slurp bite the needle and grabs em with no interference from the plug. Try it or not. Thank me later. Its big fish time again, good luck out there. Fish caught on the surface with the 212 needle. by @solstice_lures

Dialed in with my finger on the pulse of the surf, The bites have not been easy, but the size class of fish I have been finding ( high 30"-low 40" runners/racers) are the ones that put up the best fights, all technical bites finessing the slim glider down the edges playing hooky with the rocks on the bottom. Its been an awesome season so far and Its only going to get better. by @solstice_lures

Slim glider 2022, doing a couple batches of a new plug this year, new meaning I designed this plug in 2020 fished it hard in 2021 and I think it will be a good tool for some people in the surf. There is alot of ways to put your own style to working this plug in the surf, I only showed a few ways, but the concept is finesse and being able to expressing alot of control over the plug with depth and action. I designed alot into this plug to suit my needs for surfcasting that I will be doing a video on the tube that will be easier to explain how to get everything out of this plug that I designed it to do. But for now I got a chopped up, rod tip down, sweet water swim vid for you guys 🤷‍♂️. by @solstice_lures

Just wanted to give an update on my building status for 2022, In an attempt to avoid a repeat of the mayhem last year, always being sold out and not having enough plugs to go around. (I can only build so many a year) I have been laying low and not broadcasting my builds to settle things down a bit. If anyone is interested in plugs just send me a DM to see what I have finished.

I have lots of cool projects and plugs in the works right now for spring. Cant wait to get back out there😎 by @solstice_lures

Theres many ways to catch a fish, just like theres many ways to build a plug. There is an entire world of opinions in plug building just like there is in fishing. I know a few that would cringe at me using a fence for this, but I have my own tricks in the shop and ways of doing things that add my personal touch to every plug. Thats why I dont sign them, my signature is in every detail of the plug I make. by @solstice_lures
