Little by little every single day.

The problem with the fitness industry or any industry as a matter of fact, is that people are too afraid to be seen starting from day 1. There’s always ways you can fake and decorate your progress that you didn’t work that hard for. The thing is, the journey is not pretty. It’s not supposed to be. Social media has tricked so many in our generation into thinking the journey is supposed to be comfy walks, Netflix watching, green juices, Ubers and pricey dinners. I don’t know about you but, my mom was definitely not strolling along the streets with a $10 green juice at age 27.. she was raising 3 kids on her own.

Imagine the positive change and influence you could have on others if you weren’t afraid to be seen struggling.

So don’t be afraid to build up your grit and strength in your daily life. You can’t be comfortable forever.

You want greener grass, except nothing grows in comfort zones.

oh what a journey 🥹
Today ➡️ 2018

Some people have been athletes their whole lives before stepping into the gym. My story was a little different. Due to health issues I’ve dealt with since birth, I heard repeatedly to be cautious when doing any type of exercise. Starting in the gym when I already had set habits, beliefs and views of who I was - wasn’t easy. For me, it started with a lot of solitude and tunnel vision to fully become someone new. For others, it may look different. Transforming myself and taking my power back to improve my health has taught me so many things, including the fact that I can do hard things.

One day I’ll tell the whole story, but for now, I honor it.

Spent this past weekend filling my cup. Thank you to @chantsboomboom for your vibrant energy and guidance. And thank you to all the lovely ladies who attended 💕 it was so great connecting.
It’s funny how a lot of the special connections I’ve come across in my life seem to happen by chance in the past few years 🫶🏼✨

As I was reflecting today, I made an observation. Often when we tell ourselves about the life we want, we often think about financial and material gain. That’s what the mind gravitates to first. This “grind” day in and day out to get the bigger apartment, house, nicer car, maybe even x2 to make sure mom is taken care of ♥️ We often neglect to talk about the kind of people we have to become to get those things. Of course there are shortcuts, “hacks”, and alll sorts of ways we can speed up progress toward material wealth to ignore the most difficult work (the inner work ugh).

But is the type of person you want to be, a part of the goal setting process?

For a good part of my life - I always prioritized work. I worked myself to the bone. And then when I discovered bodybuilding, I laser focused on it. I didn’t even care for my appearance or attempt to strike some balance in my life. I mentally struggled if I could not get to the gym or accurately weigh a meal..

Today, I focus a lot on how my life feels and who I show up as CONSISTENTLY. I’ve learned through hardship, loss and growth that these days of my life are truly fleeting. There will be no “later”. That doesn’t mean I cut corners on the work I put in for my bigger dreams, it just means I embrace every day as it comes. I cherish it. And I continue to be that friend that reaches out, that invites people to sit at my table, that prioritizes connection over just the measurable and quantifiable goals in my life ($$ 💪🏽) because that is what makes life truly special. I wasn’t not always the woman I am today, but I have learned to embrace every step it took to get here. Life has blessed me, and I intend on paying it forward ♥️ taken in New York, New York by @somarason

“I’m mean because I grew up in New England”

Photo series I started in May to capture that nostalgia I feel when I visit my hometown. Time moves so slow here. I feel like I can scale the entire city just by walking down the block. Like I’ve outgrown these streets that I am too big to even fit on the sidewalk.
My recent visits home have been bittersweet, as each year I've had to accept that I won't be returning to settle down.
It's been a difficult choice, leaving home behind. There are things I've had to give up, but I'm living the life I always wanted. It's not perfect, but I wouldn't change the past decade for anything. The experiences, growth, love, and healing I've experienced wouldn't have been possible if I hadn't left Lynn 10 years ago.
