Hopey Myles - we miss you every day 💚 I’ve made a little video to show just how special she was.

Thank you to Cindi @rushtondogrescue for rescuing Hope from the butcher, along with so many other dogs, and for getting her out of China.

Thank you to Liz @sdanimalrescue for giving Hope a safe space in Somerset and for knowing we were the forever home for her.

Thanks to everyone for your kind and lovely comments and messages about our amazing girl. If she hadn’t got out of China she would have suffered the most horrendous fate, as many dogs do every day. As it was, she experienced things no dog should ever have to experience, including having her vocal chords cut.

When she was with us, Hopey loved everyone who knew her, and she just brought so much joy. She was the most gentle, beautiful soul, and it’s no exaggeration to say life really isn’t the same without her 💚💔

If you’re thinking of having a dog in your life, please rescue. There are so many dogs and puppies of all different kinds in rescue, with all sorts of different stories (some may not be what you might imagine) and they really need your love and support. Every dog deserves kindness, patience, and a chance. I’m so priiviledged that Hopey’s chance was with us x

There are many rescues doing incredible things. The ones I particularly follow are:

@rushtondogrescue
@slaughterhouse_survivors
@lurcher_sos (Where Petal, Flower and Fawn are from)
@sdanimalrescue
@ferneanimalsanctuary
@perreradogsukrescue
@arundawndogrescue
@foawales
@kent_greyhound_rescue
@happylandingsanimalrescue

Exciting news 😊 I’m setting up a new radio station for Somerset! You can find the Instagram at @besomerset 💛

We’ll be starting with evening broadcasts online and building it from there over time. I can’t wait.

It’ll have lots of great local conversation, features, music, and fun and games of course!

There’s lots to do before the launch, and it’s your station, so do come on the adventure of setting it up with me on @besomerset.

Let’s make it brilliant ⭐️

Head to @besomerset for a little video of me in a field, chatting about it! 😂

Thank you for all of your support.

Just wanted to let you know that we said goodbye to our beautiful Flower yesterday.

We spent a precious Saturday, Sunday and Monday with her 24/7, but yesterday it was time.

The vet came and Flower was able to go to sleep for the final time, very peacefully, in her favourite place on the end of the sofa, with us talking to her and telling her how much she was loved. We then took her to our local pet crematorium and are bringing her home today.

I can’t describe how much we love her and how much we already miss her.

The vet said she was lucky to have us. I said no. We were the luckiest people ever, to have flower pot noodle in our lives 💔❤️

I will put together a proper tribute in time, with some of her funniest moments. She was the most beautiful soul, inside and out.

Thank you for all your messages. It has meant such a lot and I told Flower how much everyone was thinking about her 🌼

Iz Whizz has had a busy week on duty!

I’ve got Covid (second time) and it’s been completely grim. I’ve managed to keep going some days, but really just to say it’s out there and you don’t want this version 😬 G brought it back from an exhibition. I’d rather have had a free pen! 😉

Anyway, I’ve edited a brilliant chat Ian has had with Mike Joyce, The Smiths drummer. It’s on @besomerset (besomerset.com) if you’d like to listen. The Queen is Dead is 40 years old. Only feels like yesterday since I fell in love with it for the first time. ❤️

Hope you have a lovely Sunday. Between coughing and having to stop for a nap 😬, I’m doing a bit of work for my grainy little film which will be part of the next Hatch exhibition. There’s some rage, rebellion and reflection in it. It’s straightforward not subtle, and that’s how I’m feeling with words and ideas right now, but of course, above everything, (and even on the days when it feels like the world is just despair), there’s always hope (usually in a bird, a tree, sky, or song). ✨

Have a listen to artist @salvidgetina4 chatting with me about her latest work ‘Looking for Cheddar Man’. You can hear our conversation, recorded in front of her exhibition at @kingjohnshuntinglodgemuseum by heading to besomerset.com or by tapping the link in my bio ⬆️.

It’s a fascinating project exploring questions of ancestry, time and place, misinformation, display of artefacts,
and who we are at heart. It also involves some wonderful community creations.

In this clip Tina discusses her initial inspiration ✨

Looking for Cheddar Man is on at the museum until October 14, daily between 1pm and 4pm.

Warm smile, those inimitable upside-down glasses, and memories of a World Championship battle that kept almost 19 million of us transfixed until well after midnight back in the day!

I’ve been chatting with snooker legend Dennis Taylor and it’s one of my favourite ever conversations. 📻

Dennis was so lovely, funny, and it was amazing to chat about those iconic sporting moments and hear what went through his mind.

Also... Snooker Loopy! Of course I had to ask him about it! 🎶

You can now have a listen to our chat on Be Somerset Radio by tapping the link in my bio ⬆️ or heading to besomerset.com.

Dennis will be part of the ‘Clash of the Titans’ evening at @westlandsentertainment on October 27.

In the meantime, here’s a lovely half-hour listen for the weekend. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did 😊.

Headed to Axbridge yesterday to catch up with @salvidgetina4 to find out more about her fascinating project ‘Looking for Cheddar Man’.

Nestled in @kingjohnshuntinglodgemuseum is Tina’s film, alongside artefacts (historical and created) and community work, all exploring questions of ancestry, movement, display, and at the heart of it, who we really are.

I’ve got to know Tina well over the past couple of years and I always find her work, and friendship, inspiring.

Our conversation will be shared on @besomerset very soon and her work will be at King John’s Hunting Lodge until October 14.

Have a great week ☀️

Burning Desire is coming to the @hatch_somerset secret barn from October 31!

I’m trying something different this time, turning my back on digital, no AI in sight (obvs) and challenging a growing feeling of hopelessness.

You can come and see the exhibition by tapping the link in my bio to find out more, or by heading here:

https://hatch-art.weebly.com/info.html

See you in the barn (and caravan) soon! ✨

What an amazing day at @somersetanddorsetanimalrescue’s dog show last weekend. 🐕

It’s an honour to host, meet the wonderful dogs and chat. It’s always so hard judging and it’s brilliant to be in the ring alongside awesome judge Kim.

Liz, Colin, Emma and all the volunteers do such an amazing.job at the rescue - no wages, everyone has jobs alongside running this very special place, so days like these and every donation means the world to the dogs they save and rehome.

Thanks to everyone who came along. It’s always a genuine pleasure to be there ❤️

It’s @somersetanddorsetanimalrescue’s dog show and family day today from now until 4 at the Rescue in Wincanton. 🎉

The rescue, all the volunteers, Liz, Colin and Emma do an incredible job, so please do support them if you can. ❤️

Lots of stalls here, food and drink, a new shop and lots of gorgeous dogs - it’s going to be tough to judge! 🐕
