24 year old Sauternes 😍 I LOVE dessert wine. I wish I took a picture of this wine in the glass. It was a beautiful golden color and even had some tartrate crystals at the bottom of the bottle which you’ll see on the second slide. This specific style of wine is made from healthy grapes that undergo a fungus called Botrytis Cinerea. The fungus punctures the grape skins causing the water to evaporate and concentrates the acids, flavors, and sugars. Overall the process to create this wine is expensive and it is not produced every year because the conditions need to be perfect in order for the rot to form. #sauternes #noblerot #botrytisconerea #dessertwine by @somme_antha

This week I had the opportunity to try some 25 year old Bordeaux’s. Surprisingly in good condition except for 1 in my opinion! My favorite was the Saint Julien because it still had a bit of fruit left. I also really enjoyed the 2019 Arietta - also from Bordeaux. It’s a Sauvignon Blanc and Semillion blend with a lot of body and character! #bordeaux #leftbank #rightbank #france #sommelier by @somme_antha

My parents gifted me this 2020 vintage of Chateau Lynch Bages. This wine is from Pauillac region, in the left bank of Bordeaux, France. This is a “Bordeaux Blend” meaning it’s comprised of a combination of 5 grape varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot) Bordeaux blends are full bodied and powerful. They can usually be aged for multiple decades. I will probably think about opening this bottle between 2030-2040! #chateaulynchbages #bordeauxblend by @somme_antha
