This past Wednesday, after attending a networking event, I walked over to Placita Olvera to help spread the word about the @somoslea Calavera LGBTQ+ Festival 2026. 🏳️‍🌈💀🌼

One of my stops was Olveritas Village, a wonderful local establishment that has supported our community outreach since last year by making Calavera Festival flyers available to their customers. Over time, I’ve been grateful to build a meaningful community relationship with the shop.

On a personal note, Olveritas Village is also one of my favorite places to shop for cultural attire and decorative items, especially during the Día de los Muertos season.

If you’re visiting Olvera Street, I encourage you to stop by Olveritas Village at W-24 Olvera Street in Los Angeles and support a local business that continues to support our community.

Community partnerships are built through relationships, visibility, and supporting one another. I’m grateful to Olveritas Village for continuing to be part of that effort.

🌟Lights On Afterschool Press Conference & Kickoff

Tuesday, October 13th, from 4:00–6:00 p.m at the Southeast-Rio Vista YMCA in the city of Maywood

Join us to celebrate the incredible work expanded learning programs and community partners are doing to support young people and families.🌈

The press conference will include a dialogue between local representatives and youth leaders as well as a reception serving refreshments. 🎉🎉
