Little Deb’s Oasis *****is closing after this weekend**** and I’m thinking about how I painted BACK then—- it was 2017 when I put my paintings on the walls. Some of them were still tucked in corners last weekend when i went for the closing party ❣️

I was in my first days of painting and I stand by a lot of them, but it was very weird to be such an extrovert and such a novice. It’s still weird to be looking around and reflecting and making and then look up and realize I too am perceived 🤠

The Deb’s aesthetic was coocoo excess peewee’s playhouse drag banana- in- hair tie dye and stilettos. I still do have that beast in me. I found her last night in the studio!

First pic is from my studio today, made this lap dance painting last night when I had a surprise free studio night, thought I was on the schedule at the restaurant and got that sweet “go home” when I got there. Ran to my studio and made a lap dance painting for no known reason. Love her!!!!! I could for sure hang that one at Deb’s.

Second slide is a painting that was in a sweeeeet group show in LA in 2019 where I hung paintings and Halo did a performance dinner and Dylan made chewing gum sculptures and Paloma’s ceramics formally tied the whole thing together. That was a great amazing week of my life.

Oh how interlaced my experience of art communities and restaurant communities have been in this life. That food/art ven diagram is popping. Everybody gotta eat.

I love my sister and her kids—- spending time with them I feel like we are a powerful quartet of sisters, their twin ness is such a poetic generational magical power growing for our family. Since they were born people ask em and me if we are twins all the time. She is older!!!!!! lol! I’m the baby…..

the three of them are my muses on this earth! We all love bracelets and flowers and water and ice cream and lime flavored chips and each other!!!!!!!! They are truly better than I am at painting and I learn from them every time we draw together. I’m literally side eyeing their drawings like I’m gonna steal that composition….

I am so lucky that they came onto this planet together nearly five years ago and that I got to spend the first year of their life living with them and we have this truly once in a lifetime bond. Me and my sister got to be closer than we had been as adults because of it, and I’m not a parent but when my friends have kids I kindof know whats going on with them! If you can spend time with your friends and their kids like real time like have sleepovers with them and go on vacations with them and be on the group chat for who is picking up who from school — do it!!!!

Someone asked me if I had “only the one” sibling the other day and I heard my self say “yeah but now she is three people” what a weird thing to say, been reflecting on that one! What’s true about that statement is extremely fun.
