Noticing that I never did a reveal for this piece. I’m always impressed with the scale and it’s a piece I really desire for people to experience in person someday soon.

This piece explores themes around the black and Asian culture , from porcelain pottery and fine China to gold and grills seen in Hip- Hop culture. The two diasporas seem to really fancy each other!

I wonder why that is? by @sonofsimba

Zaytoven is a portrait of my friend Zay, painted as a direct homage to Kehinde Wiley, whose work I encountered on my first-ever visit to an art museum in high school — an experience that changed how I understood who could be depicted, and how. Set against a dense floral pattern that echoes Wiley’s signature backdrops, Zay is rendered with the scale and presence traditionally reserved for portraits of power and privilege, while his locs falling across his face resist easy legibility — offering visibility and withholding it in the same gesture. Dressed in a Jamaica jersey and personal jewelry, he is placed fully in the present, in his own community and culture, inside a visual language borrowed from the art historical canon. This piece is part of my ongoing effort to close the distance between community spaces and contemporary art institutions — to paint the people I know into rooms like the one that first opened this world to me. by @sonofsimba

NEW MURAL ALERT !‼️🇵🇷

Last year I had the opportunity to visit San Juan , immerse myself in the culture and study the spirit beheind the art there!

I learned the art and the community is almost synonymous. It gives the streets, people, and even homes more life !

This year I had the opportunity to serve my Puerto Rican barber and make his space feel a bit like home! Shoutout to the family over at @the_right_direction_barbershop !

My latest mural for goldenskillet located in Ahoskie,Nc. This has probably been one of my favorite pieces this year because of what it means to the owner. A portrait of their late parents. A tear jerker for sure! However being able to paint a young love like this from another era is so refreshing to see!

I rarely paint in black and white , but Joe think I may start doing more like this ! taken in GOLDEN SKILLET by @sonofsimba
