Five of my pieces have been selected for the Loʻi Gallery, and I'm grateful to @asbhawaii for opening their doors to Hawaiʻi's artists — and to Kailee and the Loʻi Gallery team, who made every step of this feel like a collaboration.

The exhibition opens Thursday, October 22, 6–8 p.m. at the ASB Campus, 300 N. Beretania St. Complimentary food, drinks, live music and valet. No RSVP — just come. 20% of every sale benefits Hawaiian Community Assets.

With only hours remaining in the Hank Foto Memorial Auction, we have just received confirmation from legendary surf historian, collector and appraiser Randy Rarick to use his $25,000 appraisal for End of the Road.

This one-of-one sculpture was created by Ruben Aira Jr. from one of Hank Foto’s personal surfboards — carrying Hank’s history, the North Shore, and now a purpose far beyond the artwork itself.

THIS IS THE LAST WEEKEND.
Sometimes a work of art carries far more than beauty.
End of the Road began as one of Hank Foto’s personal surfboards — a board that held years of ocean, memory and North Shore history. After Hank passed, his family entrusted it to Ruben, who carved it by hand into this one-of-one tribute.
Now the piece has one final purpose: to help support Hank’s son, Fender.
The auction closes Tuesday, October 6 at 6 PM HST, which means this is our last weekend to help this story reach the person who understands what this artwork truly represents.
A collector will not simply be acquiring an original Ruben Aira Jr. sculpture. They will be helping carry forward Hank’s legacy while surrounding Fender with the kind of support that only community can give.
As the holidays approach, imagine what it could mean for him to feel just how many people — friends, surfers, artists, collectors and complete strangers — chose to stand beside him.

After the paddle out and the incredible response from the community, the “End of the Road” auction has been extended through Tuesday, October 6 at 6 PM HST.

This piece was carved by Ruben Aira Jr. from one of Hank Foto’s own surfboards, and 100% of the auction proceeds will go directly to his son, Fender.
