📙ARC Review: Could you be Mine ?

There are authors whose books you enjoy and then there are authors who make you want to follow every story they write. Sophie is definitely the latter one for me. After Fuel to the Fire earlier this year, I already knew I was going into Could You Be Mine? with high expectations.... and Brad and Seren absolutely delivered.

📖The Plot:

Seren is the General Manager of a lacrosse team owned by her father. Brad is the team captain, a firefighter and quite literally the man everyone turns to when something needs fixing. Except Seren is one thing he can't simply fix. What begins with a line neither of them should cross slowly turns into a secret, complicated romance where careers, family expectations and feelings are all on the line.

🩷What I loved:

🔥Brad: The ultimate "let me take care of it" hero, but with an emotional journey of his own. Watching the perpetual fixer learn that he doesn't always have to carry everything alone was probably my favourite part of his character.

🔥Seren's journey: Beneath the confident professional is a woman constantly seeking validation from a father who makes her feel like she has something to prove. Watching her gradually find her voice, set boundaries and choose herself was incredibly satisfying to me.

🔥The chemistry between them two: There is plenty of tension, forbidden, spicy romance, secret moments and enough steam to keep the pages turning but I especially loved the emotional connection underneath it....so well woven threads @sophenwrites 🙌🏻

🔥The found family element: The support, sibling dynamics and friendships add so much warmth to the story and make Vancity feel like a world I genuinely want to revisit....Love it Loveeee it !!!

🔥And that twist..... I genuinely didn't see it coming and looking back, the pieces fit together beautifully. (Not gonna say much here)

HEY ALL! Wow. It’s September, fall is in the air, hockey is right around the corner, and after being entirely absent here for weeks and weeks (I’m sorry, friends) I thought I should say hi.

It’s been quite a summer. Three months of travels, heatwaves, World Cup action in Vancity, a little too much gorgeous food, an absolute ton of grief, some pretty big life decisions, and SO MUCH writing and editing… and writing and editing. Sharing a few highlights. I didn’t take pictures of the lowlights, but they were also very much part of the ride.

And now my attention turns to the next chapter. Vancity Fire part three comes out next week. It’s been a rollercoaster and I’m still very much on board. I adore Brad and Seren, and I’m so proud of being able to bring a third book into the world this year, a book that I’m extra proud of because somehow I managed to deliver it right as everything imploded when Mum died. I know she’d be proud too.

And after next week, it’s onward to new ventures. Two whole new worlds and stories incoming, including a different genre and a whole new author identity.

Oh, and there’s no ducks at the end this time around, but there are some amazing singers, and an aerial display with a little surprise!

Woohoo! It’s International Day of Friendship today… and therefore the perfect time to celebrate the ultimate love story of my Vancity Fire series: Nix and Sav.

Thirteen years ago today we said “I do” in an unconventional tiny wedding we planned in three weeks, all because of a pizza delivery driver (long story!).

We met eighteen years ago, on the first day of a new term, back when we both worked as teachers in London. What’s followed since has been an adventure of epic proportions. We’ve called three countries home. We’ve traveled across the globe. We’ve discovered a shared obsession with Disney. We’ve written (and procrastinated a lot) side-by-side. We’ve eaten an embarrassing number of takeaways. We’ve laughed a million times, bickered over the most pedantic things, and supported each other through every up and down this life has thrown at us.

I write romance because I love love, and I am so lucky to have found my happily ever after. My book boyfriends are all inspired by one man, this man right here! I can’t wait for the next part of our journey together 💕

Confession. I am a little bit Love Island obsessed. I’ve watched just about all seasons of UK and US. I over invest. I get mad at the producers. I get even more mad at the boys. I love to hate Casa Amor. Movie Night reigns. Bring back the Twitter challenge.

But most of all, I yearn for an actual, genuine connection where two gorgeous people pull each other for a chat, speak the same love language, have low-key the perfect eye contact, check all of each others’ boxes, enjoy a whole large serving of French fries, and then close themselves off forever without needing a million tests. What can I say? I write romance. I need a HEA.

The problem is, actual, genuine HEAs in Love Island are rare (although I’m counting on you Brinity). So I’m turning to my book boyfriends to save the day. Here’s what Brodie, Brock, and Brad would say to the loves of their lives if they were coupling up round the fire pit…
