Working from Home
129 x 98 cm
Oil Pastel on Prepared Paper

Here’s the final image! All profits from this print will be DONATED to the ‘Women Peace and Humanitarian fund’ who are currently working in Afganistan ‘channeling urgently-needed financing to grassroots women’s organizations working to sustain their operations and respond to COVID-19 and its urgent gender dimensions.’

I feel so privileged to have been given such an amazing education and be able to make active choices about what I aspire to do with my life. Only two generations before me my grandma was denied an education, and now women in Afghanistan are also being kept out of schools. I’m hoping we can raise money to help these women see a bright future for themselves.

If you are unable to buy a print at the moment then please share this post so that others can see it!

Here are some of the final images from the dreamscape installation project!

Inspired by Kashmir and the magic of early memory described in Midnight’s Children, I wanted to create a space that feels both ephemeral and alive — caught somewhere between dreaming and waking.

This project is a first step toward exploring more immersive set design and world-building.
I’m currently open to new set design opportunities across art, film, editorial and creative production — I would love to hear from you!

Huge thank you to @talha325 who captured these images!

This project has been one of the most hands-on things I’ve made in a while!

Using cardboard, paper and layers of paint, I built a 3D dreamscape set that feels both fragile and immersive- a space you could almost walk into.

Here’s a look at how the scene was built up, keep following for the final images!

Hi everyone! I’m excited to share the very first steps of a new project I’ve been working on.
This was an initial sketch model, built as a 3D digital model and then from cardboard and paper, as I started to imagine a dreamscape inspired by the opening chapter of Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie.

The piece explores early memories and dream states set against the backdrop of Kashmir — a place full of beauty, fragility and transformation.

This model became the foundation for a full-scale set that I hope captures that feeling.
I’m looking forward to showing you the next stages in the coming days!

Scene 1
Model background

Hi everyone! Following on from my last post I am starting to create a modelled scene that my animation will take place in. This is the layers of mountains and sky I have drawn that will form the background for my story.

My next step will be drawing in the foreground of the scene including the moving water, the decking and any boats!

Scene 1
Development sketch

Hi everyone! Following on from my last post I am starting to form a narrative for my first short film. This sketch is an initial point of inspiration to design the first set.

The film will follow 4 women at different moments in pre and post colonial India, highlighting their everyday experiences and struggles living within these different political climates.

The first scene will start in Kashmir in the early 1900s and follows a woman as she supports her family by selling jewellery. She is conflicted by the act of working and believes she is being punished for it. The calm lakes of Kashmir are shown to rise in this sketch crashing down on her (she is represented as a nose- a symbol of heritage and strength).

I will now spend the next few weeks developing this sketch into a stage set and an animation for my film.

In Kashmir
Act 1 scene 1
Test model

Hello everyone! I’ve been very quiet on here the last few months mostly due to burn out but also I’ve been researching and planning a new project.

I’ve recently finished the book ‘Midnights Children’ by Salman Rushdie and have been very inspired by the telling of the history of colonial and post independent India. I’m hoping to tell my own story inspired by the book and look at this history of India through the experience of women and turn it into a short animated film.

So I’ll be spending the next few months developing a narrative for this story, learning how to animate and sharing this journey with all of you. Here is a short clip of a set I’ve created inspired by Kashmir, being put together and animated! Hope you’ll follow along and share your thoughts.
