We gave birth in the parking lot of the hospital!!😯Yes, you read that right. Right there on the pavement next to Michael’s car. After the most dramatic entrance, Goldie made us a family of 4 + 🐶 with an adventurous story for us to tell💕On Friday, I woke up around 3:30am w/ some cramping - soon realizing I was experiencing contractions. By 7am, they were about 8 minutes apart so I called my OBGYN & she said I was prepping for labor & could come to the hospital in a few hours for support. Michael packed his bag, we got George ready for school & went on our way. By 8:15, we dropped G off & headed to the hospital. While in the car, my contractions got more painful & quickly became 4 min apart. The only thing I wanted was to get to hospital for some pain meds. “DEEP BREATHS, we’ll be there soon.” We pulled into the hospital parking lot & as soon as Michael parked the car, Goldie decided she had waited long enough. I can’t describe it but I couldn’t move. OMG what do we do? 🫣 Michael sprung into action, called 911 & my OBGYN to get security to come w/ a wheelchair. They came but ahhh I still couldn’t get up. Just then, my water broke 💦 & my body started pushing. Oh crap, labor is happening right here, right now. Security called the stat team who rushed out & discovered that baby was already crowning. They tried to keep me calm & just then, L&D to the rescue. An OB & her whole team came running with everything they needed to deliver our baby. I started screaming 😵 realizing I was in active labor… on the concrete ground with little equipment and no medicine!! Outside. In the parking deck🫣 Luckily, it was a beautiful morning with no clouds & plenty of sunshine. Perfect delivery weather 😂 Security blocked off the area & the doctor said it was time to push. Right then & there. I pushed several times with all my might & baby Goldie was born ⭐️ It was the craziest, scariest, most rewarding, words-can-never-describe 20 minutes for us both. Safe to say I was in shock for a few hours after (& maybe still am 🤣). My doc says she never sees people go into labor that fast. Forever thankful we had no complications & both mom & baby are healthy (with a big story to tell!) by @sophlog

A love letter to the mom who is doing it all: There are days I wonder why motherhood feels so much heavier than I imagined. I think we’re having an identity crisis at times. And then I remember... We’re not just raising kids anymore. We’re managing schedules, building the career, making a thousand tiny decisions, worrying about things our parents never had to think about, be present partners, protect our kids online and in real life, maintaining our marriages and somehow still find the energy to soak up every magical moment because “they’re only little once.” It’s completely beautiful and it’s totally exhausting. And confusing. And most of the work is invisible. This isn’t a complaint. I wouldn’t trade being their mom for anything. ❤️ It’s just a reminder that if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately, it doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. It might just mean you’ve been carrying more than anyone realizes. So here’s to the moms showing up every day, even when they’re running on empty. I have a feeling I’m not the only one feeling this way. I see you. I am you. I cheer for you. Let’s remind each other we’re not carrying it alone. 🤍 by @sophlog
