A quick edit for Sunday! Speak no evil (2024) Directed by James Watkins. #jamesmcavoy #speaknoevil #thrillerfilm #filmedits #horrorfilm by @souler888_
The Assistant (2019) Directed by Kitty Green. The film follows a single day in the life of a junior assistant working at a film production company. We see her endure gruelling long hours, conflicts within the office and the experience of being overlooked and overworked. The film shows the dull and isolating struggles of systemic power within the film industry and within the corporate world. #theassistant #filmedits #kittygreen #juliagarner #filmedit by @souler888_
The Stendhal Syndrome (1996) Directed by Dario Argento. This psychological horror follows Anna Manni, a police officer who travels to Florence on the hunt for a sadistic serial rapist and murderer. While walking through the Uffizi gallery she is overcome by the real life Stendhal syndrome, where she faints into a trance and suffers a temporary memory loss. She is then stalked and brutalised by the killer. Even in death he follows her, he becomes her. #thestendhalsyndrome #darioargento #filmedits #italianfilm #nichefilm by @souler888_
Atonement (2007) Directed by Joe Wright. Based on the 2001 novel by Ian McEwan, this story begins in England 1935. It explores how a 13-year-old girls vivid imagination, class prejudice, and misunderstanding of adult relationships destroy innocent lives and her lifelong quest to make peace with her guilt. Beautifully shot and wonderfully written. Five stars from me! #atonementedit #atonementfilm #filmedits #joewrightdirector #kieraknightley by @souler888_
Brooklyn (2015) Directed by John Crowley. Based on the novel by Colm Tobin, Brooklyn explores the reality of coming of age, discovering identity and the pain of leaving home to build your own life. The story ultimately follows Eilish, a young Irish immigrant in the 1950s who moves to Brooklyn for a better life, falls in love with an Italian-American plumber, and must choose between two countries after a family tragedy. This film explores those themes deeply and so beautifully. It is one of my favourites. #brooklynfilm #colmtobin #irishfilm #filmedits #brooklynedit by @souler888_
Gary Oldman being interviewed for the 1997 film ‘Nil by Mouth’ which he wrote and directed. Just finished watching the film and gosh it was hard to get through, but very necessary to watch. You can find the full clip on YouTube. #garyoldman #nilbymouth #britishfilms #celebrityinterview #archivefootage by @souler888_
The Draughtsmans Contract (1982) Directed by Peter Greenaway. This stylish period drama set in 1694 follows an arrogant artist, Mr Neville, who is hired by Mrs. Herbert to create twelve detailed drawings of her husband’s country estate. Within the contract Mr Neville demands payment and specific sexual favours from Mrs Herbert for each complete drawing. The film is highly visually impressive, scattered with subtle clues, symmetry and clever dialogue that guide us towards the intensions of the characters. I was enamoured by the costumes and set design in particular. #petergreenaway #thedraughtsmanscontract #britishfilms #filmedits #perioddramas by @souler888_
