The "Madlib Sample Pack" is out now only @splice 🎉

We were so honored to work with the legendary Madlib! It goes without saying that we have been influenced and inspired by his work, but to get in the room and hear that the feeling is mutual is everything to us!

This pack marks a special legacy moment for a collective and team that is more than a decade in doing this. This session felt like a band reunion, but we think you'll hear that the synergy never left.

Thank you to @madlib @stacyepps @soundfactoryhollywood and everyone at Splice who played a part in making this happen! by @soulsurplus

Soul Surplus presents “Reel Soul: Soul on Tape” by Dave James, a gritty collection of vintage soul samples built around punchy live drums, warm analog textures, and the unmistakable character of tape. At the heart of the pack are hard-hitting drum performances by Jerome Baylor, recorded through outboard Neve and SSL preamps to capture the weight, saturation, and raw energy of classic soul recordings.

Featuring trumpet by Larry Mack and saxophone and flute by Melvin “Trey” Eley, “Reel Soul” is filled with dusty horn lines, deep grooves, and cinematic songstarters ready to chop, flip, and sample. Designed for Hip Hop, R&B, Soul, and boom bap producers, this collection delivers timeless analog soul with the grit and punch of a record pulled straight from the crate. by @soulsurplus

Sometimes the best music starts when you least expect it. Soul Surplus presents “New No. 1 Jam Pack” by ZEEK ( @juanzeek )a collection born from a piano, a Chinese food order, and a spontaneous moment that grew into something much bigger.

While waiting for his food at New No. 1 Chinese Food in Newark, Delaware, Zeek sat down at the restaurant’s piano and began to play. What started as an impromptu jam soon became a viral online series and a gathering place for musicians, music lovers, and the surrounding community. Today, the restaurant plays host to Zeek’s jam events, transforming a neighborhood food spot into an unlikely stage for soulful collaboration and live musical discovery.

Featuring Andrew “Drew” Barrett on keyboards and bass, Ismail “Ish” Abdus-salaam on guitar, Isaiah Weatherspoon on drums, and Jayson Miller on bass, “New No. 1 Jam Pack” captures the loose, spontaneous energy of musicians creating together in the moment.

Packed with soulful grooves, live instrumentation, rich musicianship, and sample-ready jam sessions, this collection is built for Hip Hop, R&B, Soul, and producers searching for the unmistakable chemistry of a real band in a real room.

Come for the food. Stay for the jam. by @soulsurplus
