Time for a change

Here’s the bass demo including my @woodriteguitars @doesitdoom Warord bass pushing my @sunn_amps Model T from 1973.

It’s crazy how good this bass sounds in a mix without the need of additional pedals. Check the settings in the video if you’re curious.
I kept the eq almost unprocessed, just to show you the sound you can expect in a home studio environment. I feel that the Warlord was made for exactly this type of sound. Thanks to the amazing @lacepickups sensor Aries god of war pickups, this amp delivers tone goodness I would usually expect from a thunderbird. I’m still thrilled to own this bass, there’s literally nothing I’d like to change.

If you’re still reading: I’d appreciate your opinion about this new format. I thought it might be interesting for you guys to check out the settings instead of seeing my assface standing infront of my amp tower lol.

Turns out, it actually is the GOAT.

A while back I asked my brother J of @aibcustomfx if he could mod my metal zone into a doom zone. He’s the wizard I trust blindly when it comes to tones, so he literally had no other information from me but to make it a doom zone. He NAILED my expectations and what you’re hearing is nothing but the AIB prototype big muff going into the modded MT2. I’m not gonna lie, this is THE tone I love the most on guitar. And what makes it even better is the fact, that it delivers damn well on bass too!

My @woodriteguitars / @doesitdoom Warlord bass carries the dirty lows through the mt2 like a real champ. The @lacepickups sensor aries god of war pickups are the perfect fit for these huge sounds.

The EQ range of the MT2 is just as flexible like the og but the modded EQ range is just shifted to get you anything from heavy pummeling lows up to cutting high/leads that sit perfectly the mix. The Draig set of Humbuckers @mrglynspickups are tailored to doom so no surprise here how well they perform in this setup 🤌🏻

For this demo I used the MT2 as a preamp. Four Rhythm guitar tracks (2 with lil schnitzel, 2 only MT2), a lead track with the mt2 plus some modulation and a single bass track was everything needed to get this demo done.

No, it does not.

I was wondering „will the GP50 solve my „problems“ and do something rather unconventional just like everyone else claims“ and you’ve already read my answer. My approach was to have something at the end of my chain to do the warbly/weirdo stuff to make something here and there interesting when playing with my band. So I bypassed everything it does before an actual amp on the @valeton_music Gp50 and used it as a EQ/modulation/delay/reverb tool. Instead of taking this unit like everybody else as a all in one solution I wanted it to be used live just for the mentioned reason, but turns out it’s not what I was hoping for. I had to dial in the eq so my amp character didn’t get lost, also there’s a volume jump (which can be handled easily if you get to know this pedal).
Since I hoped too much, I think I’ll use it as everyone else soon as a whole rig (with pedals infront of it) just to see if it can be used for stoner/doom as well. So far my experiences with digital dirt devices (pedals or amps) haven’t been too great, but maybe this will change my mind on the second sight…

More riffs, more @crabguitareffects appreciation.

Yesterday I showed you a full mix including a HM-2 going into the dual rectifier channel of my Crab Dragon amp. Today you see and hear a demo I finished months ago but couldn’t swing my ass up to share it with you. This time it’s JUST channel 3 and 4, without any additional pedals. Channel 3 is emulating the dual rec and channel 4 is voiced after the Mesa Mark III. The amp comes with a optional boost which I used for channel 3, channel 4 was perfect fitting without anything.

For bass I used my beloved @woodriteguitars @doesitdoom Warlord, proving its WAY more than „just another doomstick“. Fight me in the comments but to me it delivers anything I could ask from a bass (for any type of heavy music).

Crab Dragon + HM-2 = 🔥💀🔥

I treated myself with one of the @crabguitareffects Amps and because I couldn’t decide which amp I’d try out first, I went with the Dragon. Why? Because its a 59 watt tube head beast with FOUR different channels, each voiced after another amplifier. For the demo you’re hearing I used channel 3, which emulates the sound of a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier. I was on a hunt for YEARS after one of the dual rectifiers because in my mind there’s a sound, paired with the hm2 that I absolutely love. It’s pretty much the sound you’re hearing right now lol. And since I come from a metal background originally, I just had to see if I can still pull a fast riff.

I recorded this track intentionally to make a jm2 shootout but after finishing it with the OG @bossinfoglobal MIJ Hm-2 I thought too many switches won’t do it. If this is something you’d like to hear tho, let me know in the comments.

I recorded 2 hard panned tracks with the hm2 and one centered guitar track to keep it juicy with channel 3 of my Crab amp.

The answer is: yes and no.

Since I’ve posted about my new beta mini amp loads of you ppl asked and told me about their experience so far with it. The most common topic by far was the volume which results in the question that all the ppl thinking about getting one have:
Is the @sunn_amps Beta Mini loud enough?

Yesterday I took the Beta Mini to the rehearsal space and put it to the test. We’re a 4 piece stoner doom band (2 guitars, bass, drums) just to put this into context.

Was it loud enough? Definitely - FOR US. I’d say were limited with insane amounts of volume because our roomround is kinda hard to control in louder settings. I had to almost crank it into my orange fullstack. And here’s the thing: I play into 2x 412 16 ohm cabs. This amp reaches its full volume potential at 4/8 ohms. Therefore I really need to point out that it was enough under „my personal circumstances“.
I can imagine having a hard time in some venues on stage BUT since I had no live gig with it yet, I want you to understand this as a presumption. If you already had some experience pls let us know in the comments!!

Does it take pedals well?
I simply replaced my @orangeamplifiers OR30 with the Beta Mini and I gotta say it takes my board with the fx and all that DAMN well. So well I seriously think about having it as my main amp. I kid you not.

Does it compete with the vintage Beta Lead?
That I have to find out maybe next time. I also have the og beta lead in our rehearsal room so I will compare them back to back soon.
Tonewise I wasn’t missing much, so I definitely get the right sunn/beta vibes.
You’re hearing me testing out my setup quickly while the rest of us was smoking weed outside (jk, we’d NEVER do that🤞🏻). The day we’re officially a band with a name and all that I’ll for sure post some snippets if you’d like to see and hear that.

I want your opinion on this!

I asked you in my stores which pedal you’d like to hear first through the @sunn_amps Beta Mini - the @bossinfoglobal HM-2 or the FZ-2. After sitting in my studio for a while I decided you’ll get both at once, isn’t that badass?!

In my previous post I said I’m not very pleased by the bass sounds through the beta mini but my MIJ HM-2 just changed my mind. I really dig the sounds in this demo, what about you?

Maybe it’s just my opinion.
I’d love to read what you think about this rig!

Yesterday I showed you how the Bass Amp Grinder @damnationaudio sounds with guitar through the new @sunn_amps Beta Mini. Today we’re having a look on how this setup sounds with bass.
I need to point out that the beta mini is NOT specifically designed for bass and tbh I really am not super hyped with the bass sounds of the amp especially with other pedals. I don’t say it’s bad, it’s just not the one I would go after. However, you guys asked for it - so I serve. I will 100% take the bass amp grinder for other demos with my quilter bass amp just to have a fair comparison out there.

Heaviness. All the freakin way.

I asked in my stories and y’all wanted to hear this combo of the @damnationaudio Bass Amp Grinder going into the @sunn_amps Beta Mini - so here we are.

The @damnationaudio Bass Amp Grinder quickly became m fav non-proco rat because it not just sounds like a good of should, it also brings some clean heaviness to the table. Who does NOT want that?!
For my demos I am always looking for a nice, warm kinda crunchy tone from an amp and since the og beta lead always did me well, I was trying to find a fitting setting with this amp too. To be fair: it wasn’t super intuitive but once you sit down and study its behavior you’ll get there eventually.

Tomorrow I’ll post a demo of the same setup but with bass. Watch out for that if you’re consider yourself a low-end-warrior

Look what I just brought home from guitar summit with me. This might be the first @sunn_amps Beta Lead Mini in Europe and I can’t wait to start doing my thing with it. (If it’s not the first one - idgaf lol)
