The incredible and hauntingly outrageously talented @hungryelectra is the gifted guest vocalist on the new single “Blue”. This is our Avalon moment. You are my sister. 💙🩵💙 I am beyond lucky to have such extraordinary friends and artistic soulmates, my true queer family. x by @soundslikesweeney

Hello my friends. My new single “Blue” is here for you. 💙 It’s the first music to be released under my full name. It also features the exquisite guest vocals of Elena Carapetis / @hungryelectra and the video/cover star is the wonderful Matthew Mercer.

This song is a homage to one of my favourite queer artists and filmmakers, Derek Jarman, whose final film from 1993 shares the same name. An entirely blue screen for 80 minutes, at a point when Derek’s vision had been partially lost after years of living with AIDS. ‘Blue’ - and the album that will follow called ‘Homophonia’ (later in the year!) - asks you to make space for those forgotten, those silenced and those, too, who thrive in the face of struggle.

“Blue” is my own reflection on the numerous shades of gay love, longing and life. I hope you enjoy! xx Jason by @soundslikesweeney

How does a musician keep re-auditioning themselves to the listening public? How to look at a camera and smile? What queer space does this musician occupy?

Auditioning.
A single out now via Bandcamp, Youtube & @subvertworld
