Soup Mother presents: Soup Priestess

A soup-based performance as part of Adam Hogarth's exhibition, Battle Cat.

Picture yourself in a second dark age. Society has collapsed, technology has been forgotten. Dangers aplenty: the soil is full of heavy metals, the rivers awash with radioactive waste (not that anyone knows what those are). A new wave of poxes are upon the remaining populace, but all knowledge of modern medicine has been forgotten. The only one left to turn to is the Soup Priestess. Though intimidating to some, she has the rare ability to sense what ails you, and only she can provide the cure. by @soupm0ther

This came out a different colour than I pictured but it's very, very good: broccoli, cannelini bean & feta soup. With a swirl of garlic & parsley dressing from last week. Divine! by @soupm0ther

Thanks to everyone who made it down for a bowl of soup (and the rest!) I had a lot of fun 💚 As often with a new format / new space there were some spicy moments (the bowl crisis) but you were all very patient and supportive. Special thanks to @barnicoletta, @latrattoriamargate and @cliffsmargate, as well as @margateflowers and @modern_provider. Extra special thanks to emergency bowl washers @aaron_r_river & @aly_4eva.

In case the last post put you off, here she is: split pea soup topped with smoked sausage and bacon, burnt leeks, and a drizzle of garlic & parsley vinaigrette. Neither of those last two things are typically involved, but Soup Mother always plays fast and loose with tradition when it comes to toppings and if you don't like it we can't be friends.

Fear not, if pork ain't your thing you can skip the meat and she's still a treat.

I will post more about my upcoming event very soon, but first: it's St Patrick's day today, and what better way to celebrate than with Irish Stew. At its simplest, it can be made with mutton, potatoes, onions, water and salt. Commonly, carrots are added in. This time, I've used lamb shoulder, slow cooked in chicken stock with onions, celery, carrots and potatoes. The seasoning is very simple: salt, pepper and a spring onion garnish. ☘️ by @soupm0ther
