Every few months, we offer a Newcomer's Lunch after second service from 12:30-2:00pm. It's a casual gathering where you can meet other people new to South, connect with some of our staff, and learn more about the mission and vision of our church.

It's easy to recognize our own need for grace. It's a little harder when that same grace is extended to someone we think doesn't deserve it.

But God's grace has never been about who deserves it. And that's part of what makes it so beautiful, and sometimes so difficult to accept.

Church isn’t the place where we do spiritual things and then go back to “normal life.” It’s a place where we come together and remind ourselves of the story, then go live it everywhere else. In our neighborhoods. At work. Around the table. With the people God has placed beside us.

It’s easy to say we’re saved by grace and then quietly start adding things to it.

Grace + being good enough.
Grace + having the right beliefs.
Grace + voting the right way.
Grace + getting everything right.

But Ephesians 2 reminds us that grace isn’t something we earn or complete. It’s a gift.

Grace. Period. Not grace plus.

It can be hard to believe that prayer actually changes things, especially when it feels like there’s a solution out there for every problem.

But Paul seems convinced that when he prays, when he partners with the God he knows, something begins to happen.

We look in the mirror and see the mistakes, the failures, the ways we don’t measure up. But grace doesn’t stop there.
