I finally stopped by South Sichuan - their new location in Spring Garden and now I understand the hype. The Dan Dan noodles absolutely lived up to their reputation—rich, flavorful, and the perfect amount of heat. Their dry wok string beans? Certified addicting. The spicy cucumbers were fresh, crunchy, and packed with flavor, while the wings came out extra crispy without sacrificing any of the seasoning. And of course, the beef did not disappoint.

The best part? They can turn the spice up or down depending on your tolerance, so whether you’re a spice lover or just getting introduced to Sichuan cuisine, there’s something for you.

I’ll be back soon.

Nothing makes a rainy day better than some good takeout— we stopped by the new @southsichuan location @southsichuanii at 📍1537 Spring Garden Street to check out this South Philly favorite.

@southsichuan and Philly Cookie Company are excited to be using @halopantry all natural extracts in our Spiral Lunar New Year Cookie Series. 🧧🔥🐴🌀

South Sichuan keeps me very busy and happy, so they bought me a box of Halo Pantry extracts and told me to go HAM. 🫡

Halo Pantry Extracts is an Asian woman owned small business based out of Southern California. She’s super cool, responsive, and her products are superb. I love this east coast - west coast connection. We’ll be needing more soon.

The Milk Tea Chocolate Chip is spectacular #1 . The milk tea extract tastes like dark brown sugar and tea. The cookie has depths of flavor; very intense caramelization flavor with a tea finish aftertaste.

The Calamansi Raspberry White Chocolate is bright, refreshing, and satisfying. Calamansi is a southeastern Asian citrus that is super floral and vibrant, spiraled with the sourness of the freeze dried raspberry white chocolate dough creates a citrusy, floral, decadent combination.

The brown and white cookie is a Vietnamese Coffee and Milk Candy (white rabbit 🐇 candy). The Vietnamese coffee extract has a good and strong coffee flavor, spiraled with the milk candy extract results in a cookie that reminds me of Saigon.

The white and red cookie is a Milk Candy and Raspberry White Chocolate. The sourness of the freeze dried raspberry white chocolate dough spiraled with the rich milky flavor results in a rich, sweet, and citrusy raspberry creamsicle like cookie.
