The right bike starts with listening. 🚲

Mary came to us with a specific request: she wanted a bike for pavement and Greenway rides with the comfort she loves in her Cannondale Scalpel 3 mountain bike.

A lightweight carbon frame. Full suspension to soften bumps and road vibration. Comfortable gearing, a supportive saddle, and a more upright handlebar position. She also needed an easily removable front wheel so she could load the bike into her car.

After decades of physically demanding work and an active lifestyle, Mary knew what her back and knees needed—and she wanted to keep riding.

Mary is also our GNO beginner group ride leader! She loves welcoming new riders and helping them explore our city and Greenways together. Finding a bike that keeps her comfortable means she can continue sharing that joy with others.

Her request went beyond a traditional road bike, so we put our heads together. Our in-house bike fitter worked with Mary to find a solution built around her needs.

The result? A Cannondale Habit 1 CRB, customized for the way she wants to ride.

We paired its carbon frame and full suspension with faster-rolling hybrid tires, a comfortable saddle, and a larger front chainring for higher gearing on pavement. With her riding position adjusted and a removable front wheel for transport, Mary was ready for her next Greenway ride.

After picking up her bike, Mary took it out to the parking lot for a spin, weaving in and out of the parking blocks. She came back inside with the biggest smile on her face. Pure joy—and exactly why we love what we do.

Join this amazing human, our ride ambassador, Dorris this evening along with all of our other ride ambassadors as we help the Joy Riders in the final push to raise funds for cancer research as they take on PTC this weekend.

Ever since joining our rides, Dorris has been fearless in her cycling journey. She has taken on some of the toughest cycling challenges and continues to seek out more. Now a level 2 NICA coach she not only helps get more women on bikes, she also helps get more kids on bikes. Be like Dorris and challenge yourself, we are here to help guide and support you along the way.

Right now the radar is showing rain just to the south of us, so we may need to make some route adaptations come ride time. However, we are having a bake sale to raise funds for Pedal the Cause, so please plan on stopping by regardless. by @southsidecyclery
