Last year, @anothergirlfromthei.r.t launched School Phaze, A program that provides free back-to-school photos, goodie bags, and school supplies to families in need. This year we were able to partner with Dotdash Meredith’s How We Give NY program!! and had the pleasure of offering our services during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We had the opportunity to chat with and photograph six of the cutest and smartest kids. Some mentioned that it was their first time being photographed, and now they aspire to become photographers or work in the media industry. Many of us don’t realize what a privilege it is to have physical baby photos, school pictures, and family photos to share with others. That’s why we also proposed to get these photos printed and delivered to the families. It was truly a tearjerker moment. And our crew? All Black women + Nick! Thank you for supporting our passion for giving back to our community; this experience meant the world to us. 🌱🤎🌟🌟:Program Supervisor: C. Hi BWP family,Happy Women’s History Month from NYC!We’re Sow It (@sow.itt ), a creative collective of three Black women—multidisciplinary creatives specializing in photography, creative direction, and giving back to the community through artistry. Here are some of our favorite images we’ve created recently. We chose these photos because they represent the first few projects we tackled as a unit. Each one is a creative baby that our team nurtured and supported to bring the vision to life. When things get busy or we feel stagnant, these photos serve as a reminder of the dedication, time, and love we continuously pour into each other and our creatives.Sow It started as a what if? Without hesitation—or allowing those five seconds of doom to skew our initiative—a team was curated, a mission was defined, and our first project was pitched. Two months later, it was shot, with only 10 Instagram followers at the time.Saying all this to say: if you’re passionate about something, go for it and figure out the rest later. Get your work out there, and worry about everything else as it comes. As creatives, we have countless ideas we don’t pursue because we let those five seconds of doubt convince us this might not work—when someone else is doing the same thing with far less experience, passion, and drive than we have.Trust yourself, trust your vision, and take the leap. As Black creatives, we often face doubt before we even begin, but our ideas are powerful, our stories are necessary, and our presence is revolutionary. The creativity within you isn’t random—it’s God-given, placed in you with purpose. The difference between an idea and a movement is the action you take.Start now, stay consistent, and watch everything align in ways you never imagined. The world needs what only you can create. #blackwomenphotographers#hireblackwomenphotographers by @sow.itt

This Men’s Mental Health Month, we asked the fathers in our community to do one thing: kick back.On June 13th, we hosted the Father’s Day event for Council Member @cmchiosse office at the Leffert’s Historic House in Prospect Park. More men are speaking openly about how heavy the role can be, so we wanted to lighten that weight for an afternoon and let the dads be the ones who get taken care of.People who do this work know that it truly runs on collaboration. Thank you to Arlean Gillin for asking Men At Work Healing and our collaborators hold space for community. We’re grateful to have connected with other gifted practitioners we already know we’ll build with down the line.Swipe through these images by @sow.itt a trio of creators who came to honor the beauty of fatherhood on this important event.A special shout of appreciation to the Leffert’s Historic House team who hosted us, provided everything we needed and lent a helping hand. Thank you to the fathers who showed up, the families who invited them, and everyone who helped make this event successful.RSVP for our future events and more at menawhealing.com or the link in bio. by @sow.itt

We had the immense pleasure of joining @menatworkhealing last week at their annual Father’s Day celebration, hosted by @cmchiosse, to provide portraits for some of the dads in attendance. Fathers are so important. We were grateful to spend the afternoon at Lefferts Historic House, a place deeply connected to Brooklyn’s history, creating images that celebrate love, care, presence, and community.Thank you to everyone who trusted us with these moments. ❤️community partners in attendance: @coachgfrombk @greg_purnell @drinkvitamoss @djtahleim @lifewellnessbk @ohb_obina @muhonja_kitchen @prospect_park by @sow.itt

This Mother’s Day, we partnered with everyone’s favorite council member @cmchiosse and @agefriendlycentralbk to celebrate senior mothers in our Brooklyn community with flowers, music, and moments of care.We had the honor of offering free portraits in front of a beautiful floral installation created by @crystalkevents - capturing mothers, friends, and community members feeling joyful, radiant, and seen.Being able to pour love into others through photography, community, and connection was deeply healing. This is the heart of Sow It - creating space for people to feel visible, celebrated, and held.Thank you to everyone who made this day so special 💐photos by @treybabee by @sow.itt

It’s Earth Day🌱 and today, we encourage you to tap in with your local community garden. Community gardens in NYC were born out of necessity—neighbors reclaiming abandoned lots in the 1970s and turning them into spaces to grow food, build community, and bring life back to the city.In a place without backyards, these gardens became ours—tiny green sanctuaries rooted in care, resilience, and collective effort.Grateful to @imani_garden for hosting us this past Saturday and continuing that legacy of community and care 🤍They’re still here. Still volunteer-run. Still feeding people and the earth. So, celebrate Earth Day today and everyday by tapping in with them. 🪴 Would you volunteer at a neighborhood garden this season? 🌿Photos by @treybabee by @sow.itt

In the midst of always pouring into our community we sometimes forget that without us there wouldn’t be this beautiful community to pour into!! 🥹This Women’s History Month, we honor the strength, resilience and brilliance of women everywhere.Did you know that Hazel Scott was the first Black woman to host her own TV show in 1950. May we continue to sow seeds of empowerment, cultivate education, and build lasting legacies 🌱 by @sow.itt
