a couple weeks ago, I went to Miami to accept my new role as a contracted photographer for @workplaybranding! A woman owned branding agency that prioritizes the human connection, empathy, and empowerment - I couldn’t be more lucky. While on the trip I met and fell in love with the other photographers that were also newly hired. crew love on the last slide 💗After studying theater and being in the theatre scene for about a decade, I had no idea photography would become such a lucrative, exciting career path when I picked up a camera for the first time 4 years ago. So if you need to pivot, pivot! Do you, boo. Stay in your lane, stay focused on what matters and watch it all unfold. ps I’m only traveling with photographers for now on because WHAT?! We had the immense pleasure of joining @menatworkhealing last week at their annual Father’s Day celebration, hosted by @cmchiosse, to provide portraits for some of the dads in attendance. Fathers are so important. I live in Crown Heights but specifically, Weeksville. Weeksville is one of NYC’s first free black neighborhoods, founded in 1838 by a freed man named James Weeks. His intent was to create a place where black people could live freely and with dignity. It was a major station on the Underground Railroad.Black liberation and black joy celebrated today and always. 🖼️✨: We’re excited to announce Tremeika Small (@treybabee) as one of the featured artists in our latest Black Women Photographers x Photoville exhibition: What We See When We Are Seen. Curated by Polly Irungu, this exhibition brings together a powerful collective of artists whose work reflects the expansiveness of Black women’s visual storytelling — from portraiture and documentary practice to street photography, community narratives, and global perspectives. At its core, this exhibition is about visibility, access, and remembrance — affirming the importance of inclusive, community-rooted storytelling and honoring the ways Black artists document and shape the world around them.✨Photoville is free and open to the public, with 80+ exhibitions on view from May 16–30th. This Mother’s Day, we partnered with everyone’s favorite council member @cmchiosse and @agefriendlycentralbk to celebrate senior mothers in our Brooklyn community with flowers, music, and moments of care.We had the honor of offering free portraits in front of a beautiful floral installation created by @crystalkevents - capturing mothers, friends, and community members feeling joyful, radiant, and seen.Being able to pour love into others through photography, community, and connection was deeply healing. It’s Earth Day🌱 and today, we encourage you to tap in with your local community garden. Community gardens in NYC were born out of necessity—neighbors reclaiming abandoned lots in the 1970s and turning them into spaces to grow food, build community, and bring life back to the city.In a place without backyards, these gardens became ours—tiny green sanctuaries rooted in care, resilience, and collective effort.Grateful to @imani_garden for hosting us this past Saturday and continuing that legacy of community and care 🤍They’re still here. Still volunteer-run. Still feeding people and the earth.
